I’ve decided to devote my next big non-fiction book to the mysteries of ancient America. After my research trip across the channelled scablands of the Pacific Northwest with Randall Carlson, reported in my 2015 book Magicians of the Gods, I became intrigued by the possibility that a HUGE part of the human story, and of the prehistory of civilization, may have been lost to archaeology in the cataclysms that struck North America at the end of the last Ice Age between 12,800 and 11,600 years ago. This is the terrifying and deeply troubling episode that geologists refer to as “The Younger Dryas”. And whereas in my previous work on earth’s lost civilisation I have concentrated on just about every other part of the world and largely ignored North America, in this new book I shall concentrate almost exclusively on North America. I’m increasingly open to the possibility that it IS the missing link we’ve all been looking for.

New science on the peopling of the Americas has turned the old paradigm — the so-called Clovis model — upside down and made it redundant. We must now consider the possibility of stable and advanced civilizations in the Americas going back 60,000 years or more and with mysterious links to the populations that settled Australia and other far-flung regions in remote prehistory.

I am NOT particularly interested in the possibility of later connections between historical Old World cultures and the New World (e.g. Phoenicians, Romans, Ancient Egyptians, etc, etc). Of course this happened. But it has already been well-covered by other researchers and I’m not sure I would have anything new to add to (what should be) such relatively uncontroversial subjects.

My interest rather is in the deep PRE-HISTORY of North America BEFORE the Younger Dryas cataclysms of 12,800 to 11,600 years ago. The working hypothesis is that the lost civilization I have spent the last 25 years of my work tracking may have had its most significant outpost, perhaps even its center in North America. I am fully aware the orthodox dating of significant and sophisticated large-scale ancient North American archaeological sites — eg. those associated with the so-called the ‘Mound Builder’ culture of the Ohio and Mississippi river valleys — is much more recent than that, with the oldest Mounds dated to no more than 5,400 years ago (e.g. Watson Brake), and many (e.g. those linked to the so-called Mississippian mound-building culture) thought to be less than 1,000 years old. But I would like to explore the possibility (a) that these mounds are just the more recent incarnations of much more ancient, prehistoric structures and (b) that they incorporate knowledge from an earlier time and civilization, in much the same way that historical ancient Egyptian monuments from around 5,000 years ago and less also incorporate a legacy of much older knowledge and a memory of “The First Time”.

Because this will be a new investigation, and because the archaeology of North America is still largely unexplored territory for me, I would like to open this whole subject up to comments and suggestions here. Many who visit this page are knowledgeable and have thought-out views on the mysteries of ancient America and I would like to hear from you with any suggestions for subjects and sites that I should investigate, and leads that I should follow. Please do refer me to links on the internet, and books that I should read, etc, etc. I’m particularly keen to learn everything I can about Native American traditions that might shed light on our lost and forgotten past. Your input will be hugely appreciated. Forgive me if I do not reply to every comment individually but as this process moves forward and as I begin to get to grips with the travel and research for the book I intend to post more material here and invite discussion. I feel privileged to find myself in the midst of such a large community of open-minded, inquisitive, inquiring people who just aren’t prepared to put up with the bullshit of mainstream archaeology and the mainstream media any longer.

You probably have already considered the following, but I’m sending it to you in case you haven’t. First, there is the issue of repeated cataclysmic events and drastic and sudden climate change, topics I have discussed in some of my articles for “Atlantis Rising.” The last major glaciation began perhaps 76,000 B.P., probably triggered by a mega-volcano in Indonesia. The next shock would have been the Younger Dryas…you have me pretty well convinced that it was triggered by a comet explosion. Then the glaciers melted rapidly (and we have both written about the cataclysmic release of glacial melt-water lakes into the sea). This would have been a blessing to those dwelling inland, but what about the vast areas in the northern Gulf of Mexico and around Florida and the Bahamas? People living on the continental shelves would have been killed, and the survivors made homeless. During the Holocene Optimum the world was warmer and wetter than at any time since, tempting people to move into the sub-Arctic and into areas that are now deserts, but that ended about 5,000 B.P. (destroying Egypt’s Old Kingdom with drought).
Another thing to think about is possible trade between North America and South America; perhaps that is where the Great Lakes copper went. The Pyramid of the Sun at Teotihuacan in Mexico had a layer of South American mica inside (I suspect it somehow made up for the fact that the pyramid is only about half as high as the Great Pyramid of Giza, and both functioned as machines to tap or concentrate the primal prana or kundalini energy). And in the Amazon and probably in the Orinoco Basin there was a civilization of farmers at least 2,000 years ago and possibly far earlier. Trade between them and Mexico and North America may have been important.
Finally, the exchange of food crops and devastating diseases between the Old World and the New only began after Columbus’ voyages, indicating that pre-Columbian contact may have been rare, and that, during the Ice Age, or “Atlantean” period, if contact was regular the food crops may not have been developed and the diseases may not have “evolved.”
I am looking forward to hearing you and the others speak at the Earth Keeper conference in Denver next month.

    Hello Graham,

I am wondering if you have every run across a name for the America’s that pre-date it’s “Discovery” by Columbus. Are there any Asian references to the lands East of them?

    1. william clarke says:

An author I have read mentions that America is derivative from amaru a king or priest from Lemuria who ended up in Peru or Bolivia pre-atlantis.

      1. Bobby says:

I was just wondering where that came from? Amerigo Vespucci is the supposed source for the name America so any kind of pre-history/ancient name involving America would seem to be a moot point. Please feel free to correct me if I missed something in your meaning.

Hi Graham, I met you at a book signing for Underworld in San Francisco, quite a few years ago now. I met you afterwards in private and showed you a greenstone rock resembling a face that seemingly caught your attention immediately. I would love a chance to give you more information about these rocks and perhaps to share thoughts, feelings and research of my own in regards to your intention to “dig in” to North America. I have hung on the edge of your books since the publishing of Fingerprints, and appreciate your work like none other. I am excited to see that your work is leading you here because I can’t help but agree with you again- there is indeed a grand story to be told here.
The information I have to share with you is private so if you choose to contact me I ask that you keep all of my information to yourself and and perhaps only to those closest to you for now.
Thanks, Graham. The best of luck to you in your continuing journey. All of your books and interests are like manna to me. Blessings, Patrick

The first thing that flashed through my mind was the Sipapu, a Hopi word which symbolizes the portal through which their ancient ancestors first emerged to enter the present world. It is symbolized by a small hole in the floor of a Kiva. I would think that the survivors of the comet impact would have gone underground into caves to survive the ejecta. After the dust settled, the Sipapu could be a symbol of emerging from the caves to start over.

    1. william clarke says:

I have heard this too, in fact, I have heard there are still underground cultures we do not know of.

      1. Andrew says:

I just watched a video about the Sipapu yesterday on YouTube. Very fascinating! I’m sure you’re on top if it, Graham, but I’d definitely scour YouTube for key words like this in your hunt for information. The general public is a bit of an un-tappable resource, so to speak.

I’m Carlos Hinojosa, a reader and ardent follower of your research for over ten years. I live in Mexico where, as you must be aware, there are several places that point to the existence of human beings thousands of years before the Clovis culture, in fact, in the state of Guanajuato, in the city of Acámbaro, in the 40’s of the tweinteth century, there were located thousands of clay figurines which seem to represent specimens of antediluvian animals and even very bizarre reptiles. Of course for decades, the official science scoffed at this finding, which was only described by authors of fantastic realism, as Robert Charroux in his book The Mysteries of the Andes. However, a few years ago, some authorities accepted that these clay figures were made by some prehispanic culture of southern Guanajuato, although the representation of prehistoric animals remains a mystery.

One word on Plato’s Atlantis from me, I think the Idea, that there could have been for a long time an habitable big island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean that shrinked over time and finally was lost is nothing I like to dismiss to early,
And given Plato’s words, he described the Atlantis culture as the one that had colonies/descendants in all areas of the world:
Especially as Plato describes this land further West of the Atlantis area which would be the American continent, wouldn’t it?

Dear Graham, are you familiar with my work on the archaeology of the Wallkill River Valley of New York in the 1990s? I found possible long barrows, unexcavated, surrounded by moats, and oriented East-West and North-South, along with a possible Aztec-like temple, 120 feet high, and also oriented to cardinal points, and covered in gravel. Who would have expected such artifacts located in the back yard of Columbia University? Are you familiar with the Stone Chambers of southern New York, which have recently been dated using a ceremonial dagger blade made out of obsidian, dated by water loss method to 4,000 YBP. I would also like to send you some PDFs and PPTs on this material, if you are interested.

Dear Graham, I have also created a new Ice Age Theory that explains Gobekli Tepe and the Great Floods, which were documented by the ancient Egyptians in the Book of the Dead. The recent Ice Core data from Antarctica and Greenland confirm that the Eemian/Sangamonian Interglacial was 21,600 years long and the Wisconsinian Ice Age 108,000 years long. Given that the Egyptian Priests interpreted these ancient graphs using their mythologies, it became obvious to me what they represented: a detailed chronology of the Zep Tepe to the Holocene Interglacial, with prediction of another Ice Age in 10K years, as well as the chronology of great floods during the Meltdown. Who would have guessed that some ancient high tech civilization gave these scientific data to the Egyptians, who preserved them in mythology. The Descent of Osiris into the Underworld graph shows two of three megatsunamis with arks during the Meltdown, and the Osiris’s Intestines graph shows the last four Ice Age hemicycles documented in the Antarctic Ice Cores, each being given a chronological name of one of Horus’s sons. We do the same in geology: naming periods of time. Could Osiris represent the Ice God, and Set the Interglacial God, who must kill Osiris in order to end the Ice Age?

  14. Dr. Bruce Cornet says:

Dear Graham, I was very excited to learn of your interest in looking for evidence of ancient civilizations in North America. I reread your above post again, and realized that you are more interested in evidence that is older than 12K years ago, and my research since 1992 has produced some vey controversial data that shows there was a very high-tech space-faring civilization in North America during the previous Interglacial 118-140K years ago. I have the artifacts, which are huge. The Wallkill River Valley of New York State appears to have been the site of a complex of pyramids and monuments that were destroyed by advancing ice, and all that is left behind of the pyramids is their bases. I published my discoveries on the Internet in 1998, but NASA did not like what I was implying, so I took that web page down. A reference still exists to it on the BUFOD website in the U.K.

In 2007 I updated and revised my discoveries into a PPT talk, and am revising it again. My concern is that you may be turned off by the Face and Cydonia Complex on Mars. I tutored under Richard Hoagland in 1994-1995, and discovered the original Cydonia Complex on Earth using the template created on Mars. Both are at the same Latitudes, and using Continental Drift, I was able to calculate the slight offset between the centers of the “Crater” with tetrahedron on its rim. That offset indicates the copy on Mars was built at the beginning of the Wisconsinin Ice Age, 118,500 years ago.

Ice Core data from Antarctica and Greenland show a 3K year period of global warming 3-5 degrees Centigrade hotter than today in the middle of the Eemian/Sangamonial Interglacial, which cannot be explained. There is even trace evidence in sediments of that age of non-natural pollutants and chemicals.

Are we the survivors of a near extinction of humans on Earth, and those who survived in colonies on the Moon and Mars are responsible for jump-starting our civilizations 6-8K years ago?

Have you read Susan B. Martinez’s 2013 book, The Lost History of the Little People? She says they colonized the island continents in the Pacific Ocean during the last Ice Age, and during the Meltdown migrated to Central America. Read my review at htt://sunstar-solutions.com/AOP/review/lost-history-of-little-people.htm

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello Graham, its nice of you to ask for input. I am interested in the Alaskan pyramid (Earthfiles.com), pyramid lake, plus the newly discovered large pyramids in the Atlantic off New York state. There are also several recently rediscovered underwater pyramids in the Bermuda triangle, and some more in the area of Cuba. There is even a story of an underwater obelisk in Lake Ontario. Fascinating stuff… why not add to the research to clarify and organize the information, perhaps even connecting the dots…there is much to be assimilated when it comes to pyramids. What about Carl Munck’s work called the Code, and is it relevant to these archaeological sites as well? Along with the Pyramids in central America, you could fill a book with a new, fresh perspective on our history by studying that most elusive yet maybe the most important subject in our past, Pyramids. Please? I would be first in line to buy. ( about the dots- so many authors fail to properly illustrate their books: show, don’t tell…) I like the works of Scott Onstott, and Michael Schneider to name a few. Ramtha has some very interesting information about a cataclysm long ago. I hope this is helpful, and thankyou for such a wonderful website. I really enjoy the articles, perhaps you will soon have one or two, to keep us posted,or included in the discussion. Sincerely, Robert Bryant.

    East Bay Walls
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    Coordinates: 38°12′20.32″N 122°57′57.67″W

One of many old stone walls found around the southern and eastern San Francisco Bay in California, this one near San Jose
East Bay Walls, also known as the Berkeley Mystery Walls, is a misnomer, as there are many such crude walls throughout the hills surrounding the San Francisco Bay Area. In places, they are up to a meter high and a meter wide and are built without mortar;[1] the walls run in sections anywhere from a few meters to over a half mile long. The rocks used to construct the walls are a variety of sizes. Some are basketball-sized rocks, while others are large sandstone boulders weighing a ton or more. Parts of the wall seem to be just piles of rocks, but in other places it appears the walls were carefully constructed. The exact age of the walls is unknown, but they have an old appearance. Many of the formations have sunk far into the earth, and are often completely overgrown with different plants.[2]

A friend borrowed a book I found fascinating a number of years ago. The title I remember as only “Bones” and was a tome written by the daughter, I believe, of an archeologist, both Canadian. While her research was concerned with the history of both Americas, the content was full of examples of willful and quite nasty debunking by mainstream archeology as well as the institutions who supported them. There were many, many examples of what has been found by many, many researchers whose careers were destroyed.

At this moment I can’t remember her name, but a friendly cultural diffusionist alerted me to the book published by Random House and unavailable in the States. I ordered it, if I’m correct, from Amazon in Canada, but my memory is slippery these days. I do remember she was the first person I’d heard of saying the best evidence found suggested incredibly ancient travel by boat. She seemed to have a solid argument for the Bering Land Bridge being preposterous as a means of travel on foot and archaeological evidence for Aboriginal settling in South America in ancient times. Shortly after reading the book, and in spite of repatriation laws in the U.S., an archaeologist announced his finding, something he kept quiet for about two years, of the remains of a woman found in or on the Brazos river in Texas who was more than 12,000 years old and believed to have traveled north from South America. The story garnered some press in Texas, but probably only became an Internet phenom among diffusionists at the time. Mainstream archeology surely ignored the find.

I mention the book, Bones, because I don’t think any ancient culture can be ignored in the populating of the Americas. I’ll call my friend in hopes that he still has my book so that I can give you the author’s name and pertinent publishing data in case you find an interest.

I also attended a lecture years back by one of the editors of a diffusionist magazine entitled Ancient American. While I understood he had an agenda outside my particular interest, that of his faith in his religion, he had an incredibly interesting slide show I don’t feel I can mention here. The entire audience was asked to keep it a secret and I can’t verify the slides were on the up and up. It might be worth your time to explore that avenue, however. Those slides have bugged me ever since. Please email me on that issue if it interests you. I’m an a fan of your books and will help in that regard.

    Hi Graham,

I’m a freelance writer who has written several articles about Atlantis on Ancient Origins.

I will be looking forward to your next book!

    Here are some suggestions:

Connection between Mounds and Pyramids: It is my opinion that pyramids made of quarried stone blocks (i.e. the Great Pyramid and the Maya pyramids) are the evolutionary end point of an architectural motif that began as earthen mounds, with the intermediate stage being “hybrid” structures made of both stone blocks and earth such as the Bosnian Pyramids discovered by Sam Osmanagić. Monumental architecture, like all forms of human material culture, evolve over time from more primitive to more sophisticated forms. Moreover, mounds and pyramids are similar not merely in form, but also in function: for example, both the relatively crude mounds of North America and the more sophisticated pyramids found all over Egypt were used as tombs.

How was the Great Salt Lake formed: In my view, the formation of the Great Salt Lake and the many saline lakes that can be found in the Great Basin has not been adequately explained by geologists. The mainstream theory claims that these lakes were “pluvial lakes,” formed during periods of excessive rainfall that characterized the last Ice Age. To me, this theory does not hold water. It doesn’t explain, for example, why the water is so salty, and more importantly, why the composition of the salts bears such a strong resemblance to seawater. According to the Utah Geological Survey, “The ionic composition is similar to seawater, much more so than the Dead Sea’s water; compared to the ocean, Great Salt Lake’s waters are slightly enriched in potassium and depleted in calcium.” Scientists say that the Great Salt Lake became so salty because of rivers that carried salts eroded from the surrounding rocks. But why, then, should the salt composition of the Great Salt Lake be so similar to that of the ocean? The salt composition of the Earth’s oceans is what it is today because of billions of years of rivers carrying small amount of salts eroded from rocks. It represents the “average” salt composition of the Earth’s landmass. The probability that the rocks in a specific part of the Earth (Utah) at a specific interval of time over which the lake was formed generate almost exactly the same salt profile as that of the ocean is tantamount to finding a rock on the Earth that bears a chemical signature almost identical to that of moon rocks. In such a scenario, what is the most likely conclusion? Of course, it is that the rock originated on the Moon, and fell to the earth as a meteorite. Likewise, I think the most reasonable explanation for a salt lake that has a salt profile almost identical to that of seawater is that it was created when the ocean, somehow, reached inland as far as Utah. How this happened is beyond the scope of my knowledge, but the Native Americans of the Pacific Northwest and Utah, almost without exception, claim that a massive wave coming from the Pacific Ocean rose so high it covered the highest mountains. In my view, such a massive wave could have reached as far inland as Utah, leaving salt lakes when the waters receded.

This is the best news one could hope for! Graham, have you ever considered the sacred valley of Peru? The elevation of the Andes would explain why so many peculiar sites is found there. The Inca obviously repurposed the sites. Ancient Egypt and Peru seem to share a past, same pattern, highest quality stone work is found further down the layers in both Peru and Egypt and the style is practically identical, Osirion wall around bottom enclosure and menkaure casing stones vs the stone of the sacred valley. If indeed a comet hit the ice cap and water flooded out, Atlantis did indeed sink, if only momentarily.

Best of wishes to you all!

  35. Ian says:

I can’t site the source but there is a new report suggesting the abundance of coves and bays along the eastern seaboard are consistent with impact craters with angles of entry consistent with debris ejected from an impact in the Great Lake regions.
Also, it is my understanding (again no sources off hand) the linguistic evolution?suggests language migrated from South American to North. Add to that the links with native peoples of teirra del fuego and Australia and migration from south to north starts to seem plausible.

Love the idea for the new N.A base research. PLEASE make sure to investigate and explore if you can, the continental shelf on the east coast. That will prove to be the game changer for physical evidence of a global sea faring civilization in my opinion.
    Love all of your work,
    Keep it up!

  37. S.Y. says:

What an amazing book this will be! Thank you for announcing it!!!

I can’t offer you anything by way of info, as I’ve never followed mainstream history. I’m more comfortable in the realm of astronomy and physics.

But I’m an artist, and as such, I long ago fell in love with the Anasazi. I have no idea how they might fit into your narrative, or your timeframe of interest. But, to me anyway, the work they left behind has a special feel to it.

I say that with no agenda, as my ancestry is Swedish and Icelandic lol.

    Just a thought.

And mainly, I want to say that I’m so immensely grateful for the work that you and your family have put into the world, all of it. What you have endured as a result, it boggles the mind. I’m so grateful to you for continuing forward despite it all. I’m grateful each day, for you, for your family, for your dignity and presence, for taking your right to speak, and study, and using it for such positive purposes.

“Thank you” doesn’t even begin to express it, but it’s all I have, so THANK YOU.

  38. S.Y. says:

Postscript to my earlier comment: I just discovered that the name “Anasazi” is disliked, because it may mean “ancient enemies.” Therefore, according to Wikipedia, they should be called “Ancestral Puebloans.” I apologize for my misstep. The translation of the name was unknown to me, until just this moment.

  39. Ken Leasher says:

My suggestion is to pay careful attention to the ancient geographical impacts on dense human habitation during a given time period: where was the coastline, where were the significant rivers, where were the likely ocean currents, where was dense settlement unlikely (ice/desert/extreme aridity/extreme temps), et cetera. The answers to such questions will probably result in a far different settlement picture than in (known) historical times.

  40. Devon says:

    Hello,

I was ecstatic to hear your plans to cover North America in your next book on ancient civilization’s. I currently live in Vancouver BC, and I wanted to see if you have heard of the large civilization that used to be in the Bella Coola Valley, BC. There are hieroglyphs there that are estimated to be over 10,000 years old, but the natives in the valley have only been in the valley for around 5,000 years according to their oral history. There is different opinions on where they came from ranging from ancient natives to aliens. There is also a history of the valley having major floods every several hundred years. One of the theories is after one of these floods the old civilization picked up and headed out to sea to find a new home. They have done tests with big logs carved with Bella Coola, a date, and a phone number; where they float them out the straight to the Pacific. These logs have ended up in Hawaii and other south Pacific islands. Very interesting to go up and talk to the locals about their theories.

I have always been a proponent to the sort of Atlantis dispersing theory. That an advanced civilization, perhaps Atlantis, dispersed their greatest minds to share all the knowledge of the ages as they have discovered this 10-12 thousand year cycle. That’s why we see similar ideas and technologies in Egypt, Mexico, South America, etc. One of the things I read on this attributed the Labyrinth still buried in Egypt as one of these banks of knowledge.

Can’t wait to hear about the travels and adventures you get up to while researching this project. There are definitely some anomalies throughout Canada that may support your theories. Also, have you heard of (I’m sure you have)the Ethnologist Wade Davis, as he has done some interesting work on ancient cultures.

  41. Sanjay Deshpande says:

Hi Graham; I agree that a book on the North American world around the Younger Dryas will be a perfect follow-up on Magicians of the Gods and I look forward to reading it. One thought though, over most of your books you have danced around the topic of a Lost Ice Age Civilization and I think this would be the perfect time to locate it as the technology used at Gobekli Tepe implies 1000’s of years of stone technology, star tracking and conceptualizing so a window with less skepticism is open. Call it Atlantis or anything else but the civilization needs to be found; only then can we move forward. I can help and definitely identify an island exactly as described in Timeaus and Critias and can narrow the location of the city to an area say 200 sq. kms… email me if interested.

  42. Paul Healy-Jones says:

    Hi Graham,
I’m one of the many who “aren’t prepared to put up with the bullshit of mainstream archaeology and the mainstream media any longer”, mainly as a result of your work – so thanks. I agree with your instincts to delve into the origins of the ancient mysteries of America, as it appears to be a topic that is seldom explored with a huge potential.
On the subject of archaeology, I was encouraged recently to witness the open-mindedness of the Evolutionary Archaeology community and how they contrasted with mainstream archaeology, with respect to the advances in DNA to discover new species of ancient humans. They appear to be ready to completely change the established view as a result of new evidence. Notwithstanding this, their association of modern humans with Africa, Neanderthals with Europeans and Denisovans with Asia, there seemed to be a large piece of their jigsaw missing – America! I therefore wonder whether this line of investigation could prove to be useful in your research and maybe even an ally?

Best of luck and I look forward to the forthcoming book.

  43. W. Ross Thomas says:

Good call on the subject matter. Along with the more obvious mound cultures, I have experienced a number of stone circles and such in the Northeastern U.S., including the so called “America’s Stonehenge” in New Hampshire of which I am sure you are aware. As far as I can tell, there are no clear indications as to their antiquity. Also I have experienced intense energetic shifts and even visions at some sites — something that seems to have been a major purpose at all these world wide sacred sites and something you have touched on in your work — the window into other dimensions.

Thanks for all you are doing.

. . . Excellent idea! . . Another best seller, no doubt. . . Be sure to include an audio version of same, . . . Well, . . if the means are available that is. I don’t mind saying that I use the printed versions for note taking, entering my fringe ideas in the margins, underlining some areas I know differently, but lack the reproducible proofs to argue otherwise, at least for now anyway, and for noting some very excellent field work already demonstrated by you, your wife’s photography (very important), and associate’s contributions. Several of your publications are a wealth of information that probably intimidates some of the most notable of the scholarly. . . .Some of them deserve a thorny stickle of intimidation in place of their arrogance from some absurd height of hubris. . heh, heh.

I found Richard Cassaro’s work, his online entries to start, especially useful regarding an earlier relationship of worldly inhabitants. I think I first came across his work, right here, on your author’s page, but knew something of the similarities before then. For instance, when I consider earlier peoples, much earlier peoples, I can’t shake the notion that LATITUDES serve a better frame of reference for many similarities between the global sites found so far than any linear step by step reconstruction by most PhD’s. . . Richard Cassaro’s, THIRD EYE and what he calls “Triptych,” such as those doorways, window frames, archways, and such, serve a broader range of purpose and help keep the mind open to explore, consider, and reconsider one’s thinking on those hypotheses and theories of what was. Like the fictional character, Charlie Chan, once suggested to his fictional son while engaging evidence on an investigation they were sleuthing, “Mind like parachute, . . . Must be open to function.” I’ve found that tid-bit of advice ever useful and just the beginning of my adventures since I first watched the Charlie Chan serial shows. It might have been a while, some decades ago, but many, if not all, of his aphorism’s have served me extremely well. I might suggest taking them along on your next adventures. Just Google them, heh, heh. . . Well worth the little effort than that bunk several so called experts would stuff in your noggin. I swear, they seem the most likely source of “fog-in-the-noggin” for so many folks who just don’t need it now or ever.

By the way, that “naval of the earth,” or similar scenario might useful, too. There are “Stone Spheres” in Costa Rica that might be worth checking along the way. They’re not just round stones, they’re huge boulder size, like the stone heads called Olmec’s by some presumed experts. You’ve probably seen them already during some of your book reading for information. Several of the findings have been damaged and moved by some of the ignorant of modernity. If you have the means, getting satellite scans of the areas north-central-south of the Americas will likely be very enlightening as some scans penetrate the jungle foliage remarkably well. Because of their implications those scans already made are hard to come by. Tensions arise when territories and boundaries enter academia. . . Well, sort of. In a way, it’s like trying to get permits to pursue a line of inquiry in other places when one has already been there before the big noise about who’s borders are whose, sort of thing. Satellite imaging techniques don’t give a hoot what belongs to whom.

The dating of several ancient sites are way off the mark, in my view. . . Yes, I know, “. . . my proof?” Not yet, but I think John Anthony West’s dating is closer. Cataclysm(s), especially, near extinction level are likely responsible for the disrupted chronology that just isn’t satisfying in anyone’s back-of-the-mind, so to speak. In addition, check Google Earth, too, namely the area beneath the water off the Florida and Georgia state coasts to start. There are what look like “Steps,” spiraling down toward the deeper waters. I call them “Gyre Spiral Steps.” There are, at least, five of them that suggest water rising episodes and / or deep-water current changes. Very large and wide ranging water rising episodes or deep-water current shifts in Earth’s past. Maybe both types of causes for that underwater realm. Anyway, I think they’re fascinating not to mention easy to see without scuba-gear. . . Have fun.

Excellent news on the new book.

Started and finished the Magicians of the Gods earlier this year. It was highly intriguing. It gave me the idea for my masters thesis (architecture) which was to visualise Atlantis, by means of an academic presentation. Thank you for the inspiration, it passed rather well, not without flaws of course, but I feel there needs to be far more incorporated. I think many of the contributors to this forum might be interested in the analysis of the ancient stone masonry elements as the document is very much presenting these anomalies, and in line with the mysteries of the ancient past, which we are all engrossed in.

    Hello Graham,

Ancient America of the Pleistocene is an excellent choice and little understood topic when it comes to the human story. That most of the world was explored by ancient hominids takes to task the idea that America was devoid of this activity (status quo). Leakey’s Calico site in California and the Valseqillo site near Puebla, Mexico are two controversial but relevant discoveries that suggest Homo Erectus or others in America.

Many sites now are coming to light that demonstrate levallois stone working techniques in America. Capps assemblage in Alabama, river finds in southern Georgia, Rick Doninger finds in Indiana, etc.). In Virginia there are several sites that show levallois techniques and demonstrate tools with art and purely artistic work in stone. These have been analyzed by an archaeological expert in tools and material culture as Pleistocene. The art depicts humans, ice age animals, interglacial animals, shamans, landscapes, portraits, etc.

There are sites in Virginia and North Carolina that are producing representations in stone of high technology in the Pleistocene, though surface collected and lacking proof of context. Of course these artifacts are viewed with great skepticism.

Overall, it appears that America has been occupied by humans into the deep past, and that human activity has included high technology at some point or points. Whether these people were Neandertals, Neandertal hybrids, or some other hominid remains to be illuminated.

Pleistocene Coalition Magazine online is an excellent publication that in part delves into the question of ancient human presence in America. The high technology evidence is not addressed by PCM as that has surfaced in my doings.

Thank you for taking the time to review this email.

Best of luck with your promising project.

Look for tribe elders. They still exist, and they are usually active in local political positions. They will have knowledge of the oral history of the tribe. But aware that these people will be defensive, and rightly so, give the atrocities that have been exacted on them via English settlement. These are memories that continue to reside in their historic, cultural conscious. Respect is required.

  48. Andrew says:

300 million years ago there was a land mass called pangea and it began to break up approx 150 million years ago to what we have today. Three points here, 1. 300 million years ago the moon was 3% closer to the earth, The earth had an ocean that encompassed 3/4 of the surface area. So that would create a tidal motion that travels 3/4 of the planet at approximately 400-500 mph creating a wave approximately 25 metres high when it hits land. this happened every single day. 2. the cyclones and hurricanes could have been 5 times stronger and bigger than they are to day. and 3. the extra gravity on one side of the planet, along with the moon could have created a rotational wobble that would create extreme variations in seasons and climate. My conclusion is that pangea didn’t last long and could not have supported large multi-celled life as the climate would change too rapidly for evolution to create large complex life. therefore plate tectonics moved a lot quicker in the distant past than they are today. If this theory has credence then the geological timescales we use today need to be looked at again and how we envisage earth 18,000 years ago could be terribly wrong.

    Dear Mr. Hancock,
Have you ever heard of – or read – the book “Kasskara” by J.F. Blumrich ? In a nutshell it´s about the Hopi´s view of American history. They claim to have been the first to having set foot on the Americas some 80.000 years ago, coming from a sunken land in the west. The author identifies the first settlement in the area of Tihuanaco…
Now, much has been said about that place, but one thing I never saw mentioned elsewhere are the Terraces, that – again according to the author – stretch from Machu Picchu all the way down to lake Poopo, rising up the mountain flanks. One place is of special interest here : Blumrich says, that at Mount Illimani those terraces rise up until where they are permanently covered by ice nowadays. If that was true, there should be well preserved seeds to be found in the soil, giving data about the time period, when they were planted, as well as what kind of seeds were planted and how the climate was in this area at that time.
To be found in the german edition of above mentioned book on page 294.
Now I know, the Andes are not exactly North America, but hard data is not easy to come by, and this one looks like a good chance of getting some.
    wishing you all the best

  52. Denise says:

Love your work, Graham. I would love to start seeing more research along these lines that reflects the growing recognition that there exist infinite present and future parallel realities along with infinite pasts from which they derive. As a researcher myself I understand that when I “go down a rabbit hole”, so to speak, only one of an infinite number of variations of the past emerges that is conditioned by the particular characteristics of my own consciousness as well as the collective of which I am a part of. One never discovers a single objective truth. One only discovers oneself. Additionally, the process of eliciting a particular past through focused inquiry and observation carries with it the potential to either perpetuate the past or change it if we are conscious of that fact. It’s a big responsibility for researchers as we move beyond the fallacious objectivist perspective of science. Changing the past, and thus effecting change across a continuum of time, is a matter of reinterpreting the past as we see it. We have to see it with new eyes. This is not something we can do alone. Reinterpreting the past is a collaboration with the collective unconscious. It would be wonderful to see more historical and archeological research that begins to weave in some of the threads of our deepening understanding of the nature of consciousness and the real time power of consciousness to change the world.

Maybe it’s too prominent to even mention as I’m sure you’ve heard about it, but of course the requisite point of research is Cahokia in Illinois in the Mississippi valley.
It is aligned to the compass points – was believed to have been a center of trade with groups as far south as the Gulf of Mexico/Louisiana – and perhaps even in Central America.
The biggest mystery to me about it is that it is also the sight of a henge! A wood henge, mind you, but a circular ring of pillars believed to be used as an astronomical observatory/calendar. I can’t believe that in all of the conventional accounts I’ve read about Cahokia, no one seems to find it particularly interesting that groups of People in the middle of America would be using the same means for astronomical observations/calendar keeping as groups in England and elsewhere around the world.

If so it might explain multiple items found that date thousands to millions of years ago created by humanoid beings such as the hammer encased in rock and other items like screws found in Russia. Funny so many items found and dismissed without any effort, which refute the current accepted history. Most if not all well known professors do not want to break with the current theories. That is all they are is theories, When will they stop claiming the earth is flat ? Only when someone has evidence that is so Hard and Clear no one can deny it.

I had advised an archeological survey group, who were conducting a survey of points of interest, for a large wind farm project. I gave them exact coordinates, and the reports from years past. The survey was published, and noted over 240 locations of archeological interest. It did not include the location that I had given them.

Here is just one article that describes the find, and location, of over 200 skeletons. It was reported in the Toronto Star, and other newspapers, one of which was the Cayuga, NY paper. Since then, the location has been named in error, as Cayuga, NY.

If we can imagine that during the large drought which created the first diaspora out of Africa, the sea level was almost 400’ lower than it is now. The continents were larger so not so distant.
Use of a Google map makes this more visible. This on- line wind and tides chart makes it much clearer.

Here is a very informative animated chart of wind and tide directions which were probably in play during archaic times. The oceans were down 400 feet making mountain islands more visible and directional sailing more possible.

St. Helena island, 16.31 degrees south, 5.67 degrees west, has a current elevation of 1,051 feet. When the water level was lower by 400’ that would have been a 1,500’ beacon island for sailors. The currents run from the South West coast of Africa directly to St. Helena Island and from St. Helena Island directly to the eastern shoulder of South America.

There is a constant wind current from the bottom of South Africa straight to the Islands of St Helena another island a little farther north, Ascension Island would have been another rest haven for sea voyagers heading for the Brazilian coast in the northern part of South America.

Ascension Island, 7 degrees, 57min. South, is at 1, 215 foot elevation. Adding 4oo’ of elevation (lower water level) to that gives a 1,600’ beacon Island. This Island would be a back up if you missed St. Helena’s.

If this route worked it would be easier to understand how Bushman art shows up on south American cave walls along with unsutured Nephelim skulls.

I haven’t got time to read over all the comments but I do have some thoughts about this. Most of my ideas come from channelings by Tyberon aka metatron which you know and have been keynote speaker at many of his events. Through his work or those of Edgar Cayce comes this idea that people of Atlantis left and spread out over the world. In fact, Arkansas was a key destination due to its crystalline and diamond deposits being one of the largest in the world. It is pointed out about tunnels that may or may not exist between the old world Atlantis and the Americas. Another bit of information comes from an author whose work has titles about Dragon Cultures and Goddess cultures. Pinkham or something like that is his last name. He too, spoke at a Tyberon event at least a year or two before you started. Anyhow, in his books he speaks of the migration of people from either Lemurian descent that end up in Mexico and western America as well as those from Atlantean descent ending up in eastern Americas and Mexico. If nothing else, these authors could open your mind to possibilities in which you could look for clues. I think your work ultimately leads to Atlantis and where it was located and Lemuria.

The news anchor was excited that fascinating discoveries might be announced, but nothing has ever come from it as far as I can tell. Either revelations were kept private, the most likely, or perhaps they found little to write home about. They could have even lost funding for all I know, but the news item was about the immediate launch, not future plans.

    1. Carol says:

After the latest search, there are enough stories about exploration of a sunken German sub to warrant my comment useless. Moderator, please disregard my post just above. The only help it might have been was to talk to those researchers who might have found trickier evidence and were discouraged from announcing, something speculative at best.

The water damage in North America was a footnote compared to what happened in Asia at the same time period. An ice sheet several miles thick melted at about the same time carving out the mountains of Southwest and Southeast Asia. After studying Randall Carlson’s work, a quick view of the Himalayas from Google Earth shows it as plain as day. A massive flood spread from the Himalayas all the way across northern Africa. It also caused tremendous damage possibly as far east and south as northern Australia.

I think there’s still a few giant skeletons that haven’t been found on Catalina Island off the coast of California. They went through and tried to get them all about 100 years ago, but what are the odds that they found them all, way back then?

  74. Rob Miller says:

I’d particularly like to know more about how the advanced lost civilisation passed on their knowledge to the remnants of the people effected by these Ice Age cataclysms. We know that these people were revered as Gods and so therefore I’d like to know more about them and whether they were, in fact, the same species as us or more Superhumans. Do these people still exist today? Either way they’ve obviously played a massive part in helping us getting back on our feet following the floods.

  75. John B. Archibald says:

    Hello Mr. Hancock,
I was impressed with your studied observations at the recent Earth Keeper Conference in Denver, and enjoyed meeting you.
Just a suggestion, but may I suggest you consult with Scott Wolter, who mentioned contact with several Native American friends of his, who have knowledge going back very far, including historical details.
In addition, another route might be to try accessing visionary quests, and the similar details many people have after completing them. There are other records than what we can see and hear in this dimension. You have been there already; I’d be interested in what accounts can be shared. One of the aspects of this lost civilization seems to have been their adept skill at managing all kinds of energies we are still debating.
It may be that what we now refer to as “Ancient Aliens” were, in fact, surviving inhabitants of this earlier culture, who provided as much teaching to survivors as they could. Because of their advanced skills, they could easily be taken as gods or beings from some other dimension.
I wonder if there isn’t a whole dimension of knowledge, if you will, in these other realms.
I wish you a safe journey, and look forward to your findings.

By the way, when I was living on Kaua’i, back in the late 80’s, I worked with a kahuna there named Serge King. Among his teachings was a tradition of the Hawaiian kahunas. When Polynesians first arrived on Kaua’i, on the South shore of the island, they encountered a much shorter people already inhabiting it. These have come to be known as the “Menehune,” and are now commercially celebrated as little Hawaiian “elves,” or some such. (There are still 2 “Menehune Fish Ponds,” stone constructions on the South Shore of Kaua’i, that still stand.) The people, themselves, however, soon after migrated to the North shore, from which, it is said, they eventually disappeared.
Interestingly, when asked what they called themselves, these little people reportedly claimed they were “the Mu.” Just that. Which brings up all kinds of implications.
They are long gone, however, and though folk myths on Kaua’i about caves with “stone thrones” still persist, there has been, as far as I know, but little grounds for belief.
    Just that tantalizing name.

  77. Shawn P Kelley says:

Graham, have you heard of NEARA? New England Antiquities Research Association. They’ve had a bi-annual publication for many years now, chock full of anomalous stone works that get belittled by the mainstream. I just wonder if there may be info in their publications that would be helpful to you. I live on the West coast now, but I grew up in Southern New England. I can say that those are definitely NOT “root cellars” and “canning storage rooms” out in those woods. And i think there are major archeological discoveries otherwise waiting to happen. Possibly more land calendars. Have you heard of the “Berkeley Mystery Walls?” A series of stone walls extending from southern Oregon down to around Berkeley area. No one lays claim to them.

I traveled with Randall Carlson and crew recently, this past September, thru the channeled scab lands. WOW. My mind is blown. The meaning of my life on earth has been subtly yet fundamentally shifted into a clearer light. I had the most awesome time on the road with them and am making it a priority to continue to be a part of coming expeditions. I believe we’re headed to the South West this spring.

    Good show on JRE recently,

Thank you for all you do, Graham! – Shawn

    HI
As for books on the matter you should check out anthropologist and archeologist Jeffrey Goodman`s book “American Genesis” from 1981. He here writes extensively about pre-Columbian North America and refers to findings that indicate that fully developed man has been in the Americas for at least 50.000 years and possibly as far back as 250.000 years.
    Thanks!

  79. Scott Andrews says:

Graham, perhaps a look into the Ica stones and Dr. Cabrera may be useful. They are, as all such things are, controversial. However, they do point to the type of ancient and advanced civilization you are looking into. They may be well worth looking into. Also, you may want to seek out and read books by William Corliss. He accumulated a treasure trove of information relating to intriguing and anomalous finds in the Americas. Keep up the good work. Best wishes and health.

  80. Anderson Taylor says:

Hi, Mormons base their faith on a book called the Book of Mormon that claims to document history of people living in the Americas from 600BC to 400 AD who came from the lineage of Ephraim out of Egypt. The Book of Mormon also claims to include a summary of a much more ancient civilization that started with a group of (22) people that came ‘from the time of the great tower’ mentioned in Gen 11:1-9 to a ‘promised land’. They travelled in (8) barges over the ocean to land on a narrow strip of land (supposedly Central America) and the trip took some 344 days. They brought seeds, food and some animals with them. This short book within the Book of Mormon, named the Book of Ether is supposedly an abridgement/summary written by the book of mormon authors who lived thousands of years later who were summarizing a history of a much earlier civilization which had been written on 24 plates that they had inherited. This Book of Ether gives a genealogy of some 30 generations and condensed summaries of very large populations that built many mighty cities and fought bloody wars involving massive slaughters, followed by large population and technology growths – including a great city by the narrow neck of land. Great cities were built using captives, taxes, etc. The book claims these people mined ore, leaving great mounds. It describes ebbs and flows of population growth, and wars, eventually leading to a complete breakdown in trade and large wars leaving millions dead, unburied and rotting on the surface of the land. No date has been attributed to this strange book within the book of Mormon. It would be interesting to test some of the claims in the book – such as millions dead, which should be something with archeological evidence. If it is true, it attributes the decline of a post flood civilization as a result of wars and claims a much earlier civilization knew how to craft swords, weave fine silks, raise livestock in the millions, etc. There is no evidence of the original documents of this book.

  81. Gary Spexarth says:

    Hi Graham,

There is an amazing geometrical connection that positions the Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan to Great Pyramid of Giza in such a way that they are a perfect scale model of the earth, Mars, and the corresponding distance between them. This would imply that a distant, advanced civilization also existed in North America at the same time the Great Pyramid of Giza was constructed.

I remember reading in one of your books that the ratio of the Great Pyramid of Giza’s height-to-perimeter is 2x(pi), thus representing one hemisphere of a sphere. The greatest sphere we know of earth, so let’s assume it represents earth, resulting in a scaling factor of 43,200, as you pointed out in, “The Mars Mystery”

The Pyramid of the Sun is 1/2 the height as the Great Pyramid of Giza, which could represent Mars, as Mars is 1/2 the radius of earth.

The Pyramid of the Sun has a “flattened top”, which could represent the Northern “lowlands” of Mars.

The distance from the Great Pyramid of Giza to the Pyramid of the Sun (as traveled along the surface of the earth) is 12,370km. Multiplying that by our scaling factor of 43,200 results in 5.3438×10^8 km = 3.6 Astronomical Units (AU).

When traveling from earth to Mars, the most fuel efficient path to take is called a Holman Transfer (as was done when we went to the moon). The travel distance from the earth to Mars, using a Holman Transfer is 5.572×10^8 km = 3.7 Astronomical Units (AU).

Thus, the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Pyramid of the Sun, and the distance between them are a perfect scale model of our near solar system neighborhood!

    Graham,
Perhaps exploring the Viking heritage in the Americas would be a great section to add.

  83. cln1197 says:

It is curious that the only megaliths in N. America appear to be in New England. It begs the question of Planetary settlement pre or post Younger Dryas. The greater question,( at least in my mind) remains the thread of almost total planetary destruction, remanents and the the rebirth of civilization on the Continents.

Apart from the archeological speculation, or the mystery schools, or even the allegory in ” The Alchemical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz” the fact remains that we humans are mostly quite silly. Even those sages/magicians/survivors of old mixed with the beauties of the country folk survivors.

one can imagine a civilized race even in n. America breeding with native populations even though stricture might be “do no harm”.. it is still hard to resist the basic biology of lonliness and need. We tend to think of the sages as being superhuman, rather than technologically, culturally, spiritually, superiour rather than survivors trying to reset the world. Thus the question or comment is; from a DNA ancestry tag, can we trace giants, or elves, or ancient humans across some bloodline from Mesopotamia, to Europe to America? It would neatly tie up loose ends on Megaliths, myth, forgotten legend, artifacts. nothing really changes after all. We just have no sense of the vast amount of time and speed of technology and fragile state where all could be lost in an instant.

  84. Tom Arsenault says:

Don’t forget to investigate a town in Texas called The Wall. There is a ancient wall that is well underground and surrounds the city area.

  85. David P. Zimmerman says:

    Graham,
There are quite a few historical sites containing mounds in Ohio. The most widely known ones are the reconstructed mound city group near Chillicothe OH and Serpent Mound near Washington Courthouse OH. I would be curious if you are in touch with any sensitives who might have a chance to take a look at these sites. I would be interested in finding out what they perceive.
I would also highly recommend stopping by the Casa Del Taco in Chillicothe and sampling their cheese enchiladas. I find them quite tasty.
