Having spent most of the past week at the gates of death, I thought I would take this opportunity to bring friends, readers, allies and critics up to date with what has been happening to me.

The background is that I suffered a major seizure with sustained loss of consciousness while travelling and researching in the US in May (the new non-fiction book I am working on is focused on ancient North America).

I was stabilized in the ER in Farmington New Mexico, diagnosed with atrial fibrillation of my heart, and discharged the following day on anti-coagulants to prevent a possible recurrence of what was diagnosed as a transient ischaemic attack — in other words a “mini stroke”. I suffered some loss of memory of events in the weeks before the seizure but otherwise, mercifully, no obvious neurological damage visible on the scans. The medical staff at Farmington were absolutely brilliant. I have little doubt that their rapid intervention saved my life.

However, although I do indeed have atrial fibrillation which can indeed cause strokes (the blood pools and clots in the heart), it turned out that the diagnosis I had been given was completely wrong. This was discovered in the early hours of Monday, 14 August, when I suffered further, far more severe grand mal seizures here at my home in Bath, UK. Again I was rushed to the ER and then to the intensive care ward. Again the medical staff, now at the Royal United Hospital (RUH) in Bath, were completely brilliant, caring and engaged with my case far above and beyond the call of duty. Again their intervention saved my life. This time the seizures were multiple and recurrent and my beloved wife Santha was taken aside by the neurologist who advised her to prepare herself for my death or, if by chance I survived that I would be so badly brain damaged that I would effectively be a “vegetable”. They put me in an induced coma, intubated on a ventilator for 48 hours. Eventually they were able to withdraw the tube and start me breathing for myself again. It was Wednesday 16 August, late afternoon, when I began to return to some form of consciousness baffled to see that Sean and Shanti, two of my grown-up children, had flown from Los Angeles and New York to be with Santha at my bedside together with Leila and Gabrielle, two more of our grown-up children who live in London. For quite some time I couldn’t understand what had happened, why I had a catheter in my bladder, why my brain was so foggy.

Little by little consciousness increased. I was moved to the neurology ward and on Thursday night, 17 August, much to my relief, the catheter was taken out. All day Friday 18th I remained in the neurology ward, very wobbly but able to totter to the toilet with the aid of a stick. By Friday night I was feeling much better. Finally, Saturday, I was discharged and came home.

Tests carried out established pretty clearly (although there is still some mystery over what exactly is going on) that the seizures were not caused by blood clots deriving from my atrial fibrillation, but rather by long-term over-use of a migraine medication called sumatriptan, delivered by injection; I was taking up to a dozen of these shots a month and have been doing so for more than 20 years. Turns out having migraine is itself a risk-factor for epilepsy, and research has established a link between triptans (especially when over-used) and seizures. It’s almost certain that it was the sumatriptan that had brought me to death’s door and it is now obvious that I must simply suffer the hideous and mind-numbing pain of my migraines or end up dead or a vegetable. Meanwhile I have been prescribed massive daily doses of the anti-seizure medication Keppra (Levetiracetam Milpharm) and told that I must stay on this for at least a year. I’m forbidden to drive but otherwise should be pretty functional.

The 48 hours of induced coma, though utterly harrowing for Santha, for our children and for myself were, to say the least, interesting. All kinds of questions arise. Where was “I” during these missing 48 hours? I do remember the ventilator tube being stuffed down my throat and the powerful sense that I was being invaded and asphyxiated. Are the other confused, haunting recollections that come to me from time to time memories of near-death experiences? Of actually being dead?  As I have made public in a few of my presentations I had a previous near-death experience, 50 years ago at age 17, caused by a massive electric shock. I remember looking down at myself from near the ceiling before abruptly returning to my body. My migraines started within a month of that shock and have continued ever since. One thing I know for sure now, if I had not fully grasped it before, is that the borderline between life and death is poignantly thin, fragile and permeable. We feel firmly fixed in our lives but any of us may cross over at any time. Sometimes we come back. Sometimes we don’t.

I want to put on record here my deep gratitude towards the ambulance staff and towards the medical and nursing staff in the emergency department, intensive care and neurology wards at the RUH, Bath, for the incredible level of care they extended to me and for their dogged determination not to give up on me, even when things looked very bad, but to keep trying everything that could possibly bring me back. I repeat also my thanks and appreciation towards their colleagues in Farmington New Mexico whose care for me in May was also of the absolutely highest standard.

And now… here I am! A bit wobbly to be sure, but very much in the land of the living and filled with renewed creative energy and ideas that I hope the universe will allow me to bring to fruition in my forthcoming America book.

Strangely it is as though a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. A darkness that had been hanging over me for most of this year reached its peak intensity at the time of the heated debate that Randall Carlson and I participated in with skeptic Michael Shermer and establishment geologist Marc Defant on the Joe Rogan Experience in May (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFlAFo78xoQ). The focused hatred directed at me in the comments section in the first three weeks after the debate is hardly visible in the more recent comments but, at the time, it affected me energetically in a very bad way and my intuition is that it was a contributing factor in my health breakdown. Subsequently a researcher has looked into those early comments for me and established that a very large number of them were generated by a relatively small group of people using multiple aliases and often repeating the exact same phrases with the exact same spelling mistakes. I don’t know if this was a deliberate attempt to manipulate public opinion, or what it was, or who was behind it, but it certainly hit me hard! Hatred is a vile and terrible energy, doubly so because it damages not only those who it is focused upon but also those seduced into expressing it.

My journey to the gates of death in the past week appears, however, to have cleared the energetic miasma by which I was briefly entrapped and has renewed my strength for the struggle ahead.

We have been grievously misled about our past as a species and plunged into a state of sleepy amnesia. It is desperately important that we awaken if the human family is to survive on this beautiful garden of a planet, and if we are to honour as we should the gifts of life, consciousness, joy and the opportunity to learn and to love, to grow and to develop, that the universe so generously and unhesitatingly bestows upon us.

    Graham – I have for years been able to dispel ordinary headaches within a few minutes, through touch with my hands. I have only once cleared out a migraine, but that took an hour; I have several times helped women with migraines (including my dermatologist, four times) who had no more than 5 -10 minutes to spare. They said it made a big difference.

    Good Licensed Massage Practitioners may be able to do the same. You will have to get to know one personally, because their normal practice is no use – you don’t want to make an appointment next week for a migraine today. But the best ones would understand that if it can be done, they can learn how. I don’t know where you live but I could look up those who might be within reach and might let you in at once, if you get to know them. Also there are different kinds of migraines and I don’t know if my touch would help with your kind.

Many think positively, glowingly about your contributions, yet have been quiet about our love and gratitude. It left the commentary to those with intent to stop you because your words threaten their nest eggs.

    Regarding migraines, I can only speak about my own experience, having learned that our thoughts ARE Energy.
    Whenever I was in a situation I didn’t accept, I would get, any one of these symptoms, ranging from a buzzing in my ears, a loud, deep hum in my ears, a headache, to the ultimate, a migraine. These would, I learned, represent the different levels of the energy I put “behind” my ” non-acceptance ” of the event/situation. My own energy “opposing” the situation.
    So, understanding the mechanism at play, I had no choice BUT to fully accept those events, not just saying it, but really meaning it , and it would always work miracles … usually, within 1/2-1 hour, the condition would vanish.
    My ” paranormal ” experiences in life led me to search for our “Unknown Reality “, and my latest finding is Bashar, channelled by Darryl Anka, in LA, for the past 30 years. He’s been explaining, in a clear, coherent, concise, no ” mumbo jumbo ” way the true nature of reality, and ours, of course.
    All to do with consciousness !!

I am working on a deconstruction of your debate – I think Shermer and Defant got exposed and I intend to show it. The litany of strawmen, appeals to establishment, other logical fallacies and the refusal to debate on the issues, not to mention Shermer’s admittance to ‘never having been to Egypt,’ made it quite clear to me which way the debate went.

I know it’s hard but please concentrate on those of us who at times should be more vocal in lending support to people like you. You have opened up so many minds to the idea that we have forgotten most of our past and we were probably a BETTER species at one point.

    Listen to the Dr’s and take it easy for a while. I am excited knowing that you are writing another non-fiction book and have something to look forward to. I also had a nasty spell last christmas time and had a little stroke. It took several months to get myself back to “normal”. The worst thing was it happened during a pcylociben trip and i wasnt sure what happened until I went to the dr the next day He assured me that it had nothing to do with the mushrooms and I would have had it regardless. Kind of like a “pressure release valve”

    The point is, you WILL bounce back. It just takes time. Gaia be with you.

    Haters are everywhere. Your originality and open mindedness are both exciting and extremely humbling, and unfortunately make you a target. I appreciate your work and your words. They have helped me to always try to challenge my own bias and keep my heart and mind open.
    Regarding the sceptics, it is odd that many people refuse to believe that there might be some bias from establishment academics, who find themselves on the defense. It seems perfectly natural to me, that a person whose entire career (identity) being based on an established narrative, which is now being challenged, might react with hostility. The internal questioning that happens when their long held beliefs are cast into doubt must be: Am I wrong? If my entire thesis was built on false ideas, am I still a doctor? Am I a fraud? When presented with this identity death, it seems many will double down instead of open up. The more ground these people lose, the more hostile they become, and eventually they engage in guerilla warfare just as all losing armies do. (Anonymous and ridiculous character assassination) I hope this is the last gasp of a dying ideological clergy. You have them on the run, their last ditch is to flee to the hills, dig in, and raid the occasional youtube post. Eventually they will be the flat earthers of our grandchildren’s time.
    Please take care of yourself. Do not forget your family in favor of your work. Do not let the hate and fear of others overpower your love and hope. Understand that you and the others you have worked with have opened a door that cannot be shut. If you were to never write another word (It is my sincerest hope that this is not the case) you should feel secure in your legacy. You should know that you have participated in planting the seed and tending the sprout of the truth about our origins and nature.

    Sad to hear about your health but delighted to hear you are making a good recovery. You got me started on the road to enlightenment with your book Fingerprints of the Gods, back in the late 90s. I have read many other books since then and I am in no doubt, there was an advanced civilisation(s) long before our own. It has also been an interesting journey on the human psyche. Even some of my own family members get visibly agitated when I raise the subject of our prehistory. Your recent nugget of a tweet on the Younger Dryas event was very interesting and fits very nicely with what I have discovered. Coincidentally, I was attending a lecture at the University of Hertfordshire that very same week. The subject was “Asteroids Comets and Impacts. Should we worry?” and the presenter was Robin Catchpole (astronomer at the Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge). Incredibly, during his presentation, no mention was made of the Younger Dryas event. When I spoke with him after the presentation and asked him why he didn’t mention such an important event, and one that would have been very interesting to the audience, he replied; “I used to but you know how fashions come and go”. Quite incredible! An extinction event as little as 12700 years ago and he prefers to think of the subject as a fashion. By the way, I was not the slightest bit surprised in his comment and part of my reason for asking was to confirm if he took the establishment view. As a Web Designer, I am thinking (work allowing) of doing my own little bit for the cause and I am considering launching a website to try and bring everything together. A starting place for someone new to the subject. A place that offers advice and collateral material on how best to discuss the subject with the uninitiated, for maximum effect.

    I worked as a registered nurse for 30 years and know the horrors and side effects of pharmaceuticals. My father was a dentist who worked up until age 88 and passed away at age 93 … he said he was tired. He never took any pharmaceuticals.     I live in Bath too and spent 5 weeks in intensive care but I was on full life support for 4 weeks. The experience took years to unpack. I no longer fear death and I came back as a completely changed person and sort literature from the likes of yourself to try to get a grip on that place we both ‘went’ to.

Glad you are ok, I to suffer with migraines but shunned triptans after my first course I could feel they where not right, having spent time with the use of natural tryptamines as a solution to migraines then switching to nhs prescribed meds I quickly decided they where poison. I would recommend looking into psilocybin as a migraine treatment obviously get good medical advice with is use and the affects with epilepsy but it’s at least worth some research.
    Don’t die on us yet, use your strength and determination and fight the good fight we need you next book. We have already lost Terence Mckenna and Hunter S Thompson we need more free thinkers like you to help light the way into a better future.     Graham there are acupuncture points which will totally relieve your migraines. One is on the dorsum of your foot between the large toe and next – my success rate with this is 60-70%. The other one is on the hand between the 1st and 2nd metacarpals. You have good practitioners in England who would help immensely – don’t suffer needlessly!!!!

Hearing about your migraines, I was inspired to suggest CBD oil as a treatment instead of the pharmaceutical epilepsy treatments. I have found a double blind randomized study on the effects of CBD oil with peripheral neuropathic pain (http://www.pharmazie.uni-jena.de/phamedia/LS+Pharmazeutische+Biologie/Seminar_BioIII/10_Cannabis_Schmerz.pdf), and also another article closer examining historic use and modern scientific findings, further identifying it’s benefits with epilepsy (http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/epi.12631/full). I have also heard of many stories of people with epilepsy who try CBD oil and are able to live normal lives again without seizures, and as treatments for pain.

I am a Chinese and it would be interesting if you spend more time explore the commonalities of certain mystical Chinese aspects to those you have explored. For example, all the precessional numbers you mentioned in Magicians of Gods and Fingerprints of Gods are present in Chinese mythology. There are also many commonalities of Chinese zodiac with that of the middle and near east. The very ancestors of Chinese were FuXi and NuWo, among others, who brought civilisation, rules, language, medicine to Chinese and they have a fish as their bodies. They are also brother/sister and husband and wife, similar to Isis and Osiris and their older counterparts in the middle east. NuWo is the mother figure that made all the humans from her body and mud. We also have a very famous pre-historical flood story and the person that tamed the flood, Da Yu (Yu the Great), also was the founder of China’s mystical first dynasty. All these are basically known to every Chinese. Are you intrigued?

    When watching one of the many film’s on Egypt on youtube recently. It mentions that a vast number of small vases made of stone including ones of granite! Have been found all over Egypt? After all anyone one could fill them? But who made them and how they made them is astonishing?

    Wow, glad to hear you are on the road to recovery. While the occurrences are far more infrequent, I have suffered from migraine headaches since my freshman year of college and have a prescription for oral sumatriptan (actually a generic version). Over the last year I’ve had great success in mitigating and even avoiding occurrences through a zero sugar / very low carb diet (I’ve experienced numerous other health benefits as well, but this one surprised me). Prior to this, I had good success with mitigating the effects of these migraines at onset by taking 10mg of edible marijuana (instead of the sumatriptan), which stopped the progression of symptoms and allowed me to sleep. Best wishes and I’m definitely looking forward to your new book.

For the past five years, my wife and I have been living on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona and have had the opportunity to explore areas that most non-natives have never seen. During our travels and hikes, literally in the middle of nowhere, I have continually been amazed to find pottery shards nearly everywhere we go, which has led us to the conclusion that at one time, there must have been an enormous amount of people living in this region.
    While you were in our region, did you get a chance to see the Procession Panel, a petroglyph on a high rock ledge at the base of a rock wall, located on Comb Ridge in SE Utah? The panel depicts two long lines of human type figures being led by taller humanoid figures carrying what appear to be shepherds hooks toward a large circle that appears to be going up as indicated by the hashed lines underneath it. It is over twenty feet long and is very impressive. The area is home to literally thousands of archeological sites. Are you by chance familiar with the history of our planet as presented in the Urantia Book?

    Earlier this year, I too was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. In my case, the AFib had lead to other complications, namely a very low ventricular ejection fraction. (27%) The official diagnosis was congestive heart failure. The outlook from my cardiologist and the American Heart Association indicated a progressive, chronic condition that may not improve.

    I am now symptom free and officially no longer in heart failure. This was achieved with the help of a few drugs, with Pradaxa & Amiodarone leading the way, and after two cardioversion attempts. Thankfully, you’re sedated and out cold when they shock your heart back into rhythm. My ejection fraction returned to normal levels in the month following the 2nd cardioversion. I am off all the drugs except a baby aspirin and a statin.

    The AFib is curable. I am 59 years old & was in otherwise good health. I ran 6 miles yesterday at a pace that would put me at midpack in most 5k events. I feel great now.

    I just wanted to write a few lines of encouragement. I have enjoyed listening to you on Rogan’s podcast.

    What a story. Hope you are pulling back to your old self – you’re needed!!. My wife has had migraines for many years and has been on various triptan type meds although not at the level you were exposed to plus morphine patches and, and, and. She decided that she would wean herself off pain relief meds because of the side effects and as part of her ‘journey’ discovered that many people found relief from migraine with a stud placed strategically in her outer ear folds. Game to try anything she had this done. The result – no more migraine. As simple as that. A few (rare) ‘shadows’ but no migraine. It was life changing. From days each week in bed to a normal life. I might have an artifact that will interest you.In 1991 I found an ear spool in California that puzzled me for years. The ear spool has a face in the middle in the image of a jaguar man surrounded by the sun. If you rotate the spool the face disappears and reappears with the proper angle of light by the sun.     My sympathies on your frightening experiences recently and I am encouraged that you have made clear improvement quickly. I have admired your career for some time but have never commented in any fashion- up to now. What has prompted me to comment is your strong belief that sumatriptan (used here via subcutaneous injection) is in some way involved in your medical troubles recently. It so happens that I am a migraineur who uses sumatriptan, and a neurologist with a particular interest in Headache Medicine. For what it is worth, from the information provided, honestly I cannot see a link between your seizures and the triptan class of medications (which includes sumatriptan). What correlations there might be are small-yes there are particular circumstances that might arise rarely, but not like this. The incidence of new onset seizures over ones lifetime is a ‘U’ shape, with high incidence as a baby and child, flattening out, and rising considerably after ~65. Even a single seizure at age 65 with no obvious precipitating factors is likely to recur within the year, without anti-seizure medications which work well. I have been impressed by the safety of sumatriptan over the last 20 years (generic for many years), and for what is is worth, there are people using sumatriptan injections daily, even a few times daily for months or more who have cluster headache (not advised) and I have never seen a serious complication. Sumatriptan is rapidly eliminated by the body.
    Please excuse the unsolicited medical commentary; hopefully you see my motivations for doing so.

If you stumble upon what America might have been called/referred to in ancient time by travelers, could you drop a line?     Large doses of sumatriptan can cause sulfhemoglobinemia, a rare condition in which the blood changes from red to greenish-black, due to the integration of sulfur into the hemoglobin molecule.[4] If sumatriptan is discontinued, the condition reverses within a few weeks.

    Serious cardiac events, including some that have been fatal, have occurred following the use of sumatriptan injection or tablets. Events reported have included coronary artery vasospasm, transient myocardial ischemia, myocardial infarction, ventricular tachycardia, and ventricular fibrillation (V-Fib).[5][citation needed]

    The most common side effects[6] reported by at least 2% of patients in controlled trials of sumatriptan (25-, 50-, and 100-mg tablets) for migraine are atypical sensations (paresthesias and warm/cold sensations) reported by 4% in the placebo group and 5–6% in the sumatriptan groups, pain and other pressure sensations (including chest pain) reported by 4% in the placebo group and 6–8% in the sumatriptan groups, neurological events (vertigo) reported by less than 1% in the placebo group and less than 1% to 2% in the sumatriptan groups. Malaise/fatigue occurred in less than 1% of the placebo group and 2–3% of the sumatriptan groups. Sleep disturbance occurred in less than 1% in the placebo group to 2% in the sumatriptan group.

    In the past I sometimes had occasional but severe and incapacitating migrane. For several years I have taken a betablocker in small doses and have been migrane free.

    I suspect that your GP would only have tried sumatriptan if simpler measures like betablockers had failed.

    I practice Reiki and although it is usually used for healing I use it for spiritual development and find it very helpful.

    My son in law Richard Edwards a consultant anaesthetist may have been involved in your treatment as he is based in Bath.

    I only just discovered your work a few months ago and have already read Magicians of the Gods and Supernatural. Listening to Magicians on audiobook a second time then watching all of your appearances on Joe Rogan, thereby introducing him to me.

    I work in GIS, I was in military intelligence and served in Iraq. I now apply strict critical thinking skills to every theory and all of your theories are sound in my assessment. I’m a lifelong self-described researcher of all things just outside the mainstream acceptance and nothing you have ever written is preposterous. If one cannot distinguish between when you are laying out factual and circumstantial evidence from the natural speculation that grows from that, then they don’t have the capacity to be reading books like yours.

    I take joy in shooting down baseless conspiracy theories however, so when I give my full endorsement to something it is not lightly.

    Your and Randall Carlson’s questioning of the global warming dogma also showed just how truly committed to honest and open research. You let the facts lead you.

    If mispelled adolescent comments from positions of ignorance affected you, then let my appreciation of your outstanding work affect you.

    One last note, I just began taking CBD oil in the last few months to see if it could help PTSD symptoms. It has improved sleep and overall feeling. It is treated for epileptic seizures as you know. High doses of medical grade CBD might help you, just a thought.

I also have terrible migraines that cause temporary blindness but have found that if I use lavender essential oil as soon as I feel it beginning I can stop in from progressing. I simply wipe the oil above my upper lip below my nose. I was skeptical the first time I tried it but have become a believer. I have no idea how it works only that it does. I am convinced that time is an illusion, and that what we perceive as reality is just a tiny fraction of the true nature of everything. I think that at the moment of our death, the veil is lifted and we see things as they really are, but we don’t get to see this until we are ready. I wish you good health and a speedy recovery. Just like you, I am convinced that previous advanced civilizations existed which have all disappeared , either because they became unsustainable or because of a natural disaster. It’s surreal and darkly humorous that so many people can see our impending doom, but nobody will do anything about it. Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it, and so we march towards our mutual destruction looking for somebody else to blame. Not that it matters anyway, because as I said, time is an illusion and everything that will ever happen has already happened.

    I just heard the news of your health. My wife had suffered from migraines for more than 40 yrs.

    She visited a Dr named Alejandro Stevens of LaLigua, Chile. He is a holistic Oncologist.

    After seeing Dr Stevens he tested my wife with a laser under her fingernail to determine any allergies. He discovered she has an allergy to cheese. This was the trigger of her migraine.

    She had allergy tests when she was a child but the older tests did not pick up the cheese allergy.

    Maybe the next time you visit South America you could visit him. Just a couple hours north of Santiago.

Your group’s set of arguments helped me into a new realization that the culture of science is deeply dogmatic and does not live up to it’s own ideals of skepticism and impartiality.

    In fact I keep thinking of things that were said in that debate. Those two took such a dishonest and incoherent tone with you. They weren’t even responding to your work but rather speaking entirely in broad equivalencies as though all alternative theories were of equal merit! No, your idea is well reasoned. Let it stand on it’s own, and let the growing weight of evidence and new discoveries buttress it by it’s own merits.

    I don’t understand why an alternative theory of history should be responded to with such derision. This isn’t the case in physics! There are many possible theories of unification of quantum physics and relativity. Many people make the claim that the most prominent theory “string theory” is itself entirely speculative and non-scientific/untestable. There are even some criticisms of our fundamental understanding of things like gravity itself in “modified newtonian dynamics” These ideas are taken on their merits for the evidence to sort out. Although many people don’t agree with alternative theories, they are at least seen as novel additions to the corpus of thought on the subject, and valuable explorations of the ground of understanding.

    It appears that you have found yourself in what I never before understood was one of the most deeply dogmatic and unscientific of the fields of human intellectual endeavor. I just want to say thank you for all your writing, much as it has made you suffer such abuse. As I’ve said I’ve just recently discovered it, and look forward to many long hours with your lovely and stylish thoughts.

    About those Entheogens: There is an Entheogen Conference from time to time, and I feel it would be very much to your benefit to attend a few of these and perhaps gather the recordings of previous events.

    1.) It seems they are proceeding down this line of inquiry like wind-blown Irish Wildfire … just as Terrence M. would have wished!

    2.) They have developed a new type of physics to deal with the interesting phenomena which have turned up! Hadronic Physics begins at 10 to the minus 13th.

    3. They have been researching the effects of repeated entheogen use on the brain, and on the DNA … and ….

    ☆☆They have found that some entheogens release transposons into the user’s system, which actually begin to alter the DNA of the brain. I could speculate, but I will refrain, until such time as more data is available. This research was known in 2009.

    Perhaps this is the reason our conservative governing bodies resist? They do not want segments of the citizenry to become attuned to another quantum resonant sheet?

    If Entheogens are the 108 teachers of Soma Raja (54 Asura and 54 Deva) … perhaps they represent a way for our consciousness to connect to their realms, exactly as happens with Aya. It seems we are the innocent Planet of the Children, indeed. [And maybe open to chemical incursion?]

    Graham, status epilepticus is very dangerous–if you start seizing while alone, the seizures can go on until your body can’t take any more. So don’t be alone for more than hour or so! Also, many doctors and nurses aren’t prepared for status epilepticus, they don’t understand it, so be sure someone is advocating for you if you have to go to the hospital. (My wife started having seizures, and “status”, in her 40s–just out of the blue–and we’ve been dealing with it for 16 years now.)

    Finding the right combination of epilepsy drugs can be a long, tedious and depressing process. But there are a couple of newer things that might help:

    There is an “emergency” drug called (here in the US) Diastat. It is a cream, administered rectally using a syringe. I’ve used it to stop status in its tracks, avoiding many ER trips and hospital stays. http://www.diastat.com/

    You may also want to look into VNS therapy, which has helped my wife tremendously. http://www.aspiresr.com/

Due to the intuitive and unconventional path you have taken through your work, it was inevitably going to be a difficult confrontation for you and it was regrettable to see you as the focus for so much antagonism. Even though you and your colleague Randall Carlson were able to field the attacks successfully, it was evident that your opponents were merely the spear tip of a leviathan of established entrenched thinking, being reinforced by the fear and hatred on a vast scale.

    I hope your spearhead has been galvanised in the heat of that conflict of paradigms, and that it aids you to know how much you represent the spirit of the intuitive and informed unconventional investigator as well as the lovely man you are.

    I suspect that your years of cannabis use may have served a neuroprotective function against developing seizures and that, possibly, slowing down your use of the plant left you vulnerable. I would suggest consideration of either increasing your cannabis use again for medicinal purposes, or using cannabidiol as a preventative measure, such as Charlotte’s web http://cw.com. You might also find that Psilocybe mushrooms taken once every 10 days to 2 weeks will serve to control your headaches far better than sumatriptan ever could. My wife suffered crippling migraines that frequently landed her in the hospital until I introduced psilocybin into her life. She has not had such a headache since, in over 27 years.

Just want to say I had severe migraines for 17 years which appeared after my 3 weeks coma cause by car crash. It was my wake up call… All 17 years I was trying to get rid off of migraines. I tried everything traditional and non-traditional. At the same time I had strong call to Amazon. I didn’t understand why and was still trying to resolve my condition. Only after 17 years all come together and I founded Ayahuaska. Night before I go to an airport to fly to meet Madre she came to memy in my vision. I was there battling it… with my dissenting replies, and my own POSITIVE commentary.     I also get migraines. The aural sort, which is quite rare. Yes, migraines can cause scarring. I’ve mostly conquered them… where they used to be twice a week, down now to maybe twice a year.

    Of course, there are many TRIGGERS… including dehydration, and lack of sleep among the worst… but I find that MOOD is the greatest factor. Tinnitis too, shares this cause. Apparently, blood flow might be restricted by tension in the head/neck.

    Breathe.

    Remember to BREATHE… focus on deep breathing… and use a meditation technique.

In my view the underpinning of all arguments about a previous advanced civilisation is that many many artefacts large and small when studied from an engineering aspect unequivocally demonstrate a sophistication and technical ability often either extremely challenging, even with our modern techniques, or impossible without the invention of new engineering tools.     Hello Graham. I’m a recent follower, nearly finished with “Fingerprints”. I went to Egypt in 1995 just a few days before Rabin was assassinated. It was a scary time to be in Egypt. If I had read your not yet existent book at the time, I would have taken more away from the trip, but I did get the distinct feeling that the Egypt-ologists just plain didn’t understand some things.Perhaps the product of over specialization. On your health incidents, I’d like to share that I have had a history of migraines, medication not helping so much. Several things for you to explore, if you haven’t already: simple chiropractic adjustment of two topmost cervical vertebrae, and food additives such as MSG. The latter, is ubiquitous in the USA, hiding behind many names and causing many untold health issues as a sort of neurotoxin. Chiropractic and avoiding food additives have made big changes in my quality of life. I hope I am helpful.

Videos posted on YouTube with closed comment section or with a moderator hired to edit the comments, lectures, talks, yes; but radio shows or television appearances, no. It isn’t worth it. The books you write are much important than these public appearances. Not only will they last, but they also lend themselves to reflection on what you have to say much more than situation and time bound media presence.

    My mom had the same problems in New Mexico when she would visit from Michigan and I’m wondering if the kick off is dehydration which happens really easily in the high mountain desert air? The “energy” in New Mexico is very different from the rest of the planet if you are sensitive to such things.

    There are so many untouched sites in New Mexico where artifacts are just laying around on the ground it would be a field day for you, Graham.

    Hope you have run into the Santa Clause character at Chaco Canyon! He has been there for decades with the forest service, I believe, and is a really good resource for all the tales of Chaco Canyon.

I was amazed by the magnitude of the responses which were such an overreaction as to border on paranoid psychosis. As a psychiatric nurse I have learned to never take verbal abuse personally. There seems to be a concerted effort to divide and foment conflict among the common people these days as a means to prevent them from uniting against those who would oppress them for personal gain. The hateful comments you received are a reflection of that and not something you should take to heart as valid criticism. In short, don’t let the turkeys get you down!
