The Endangered Liberal I do not know if you’ve taken the time to classify yourself into a conservative or a liberal. According to Emotional Intelligence theory, there are 4 basic emotions that make up all the other emotions we experience, much like the 3 basic colors of red, blue and yellow create all the other colors we see when used in different shades and proportions. The 4 basic emotions a

Dig deeper, Pete. Why did Iran support ISIS at that point? Because they were threatened. Who were they threatened by? The US and SA. Why? Why would any culture as ancient and a memory of thousands of years, feel threathened? A very simple question. Go back in time, to the fundamental difference between Arab and Persian cultures. It's not that Shia-Sunni thing, although it's portrayed tha

Persians have a nasty habit. Their women have rights, wear makeup, reveal their faces in public, and drive cars. They, as a culture, are meticulously clean and even their public places are spotless. Their poetry, art, literature and philosophy are second to none on this planet's history. They're humble and courteous as people, with a highly sophisticated social culture that echoes in their blood.

Please, look up the history, for I don't like to preach. That's a very black and white view of a complex geopolitical picture. There are shades of grey, yin and yang, and some colors involved too... :) Deep

I will turn the question around. Maybe sting Hillary in the butt? Maybe then you'll listen? Granted, they don't like Israel. But beyond that, what? Hezbollah? Really, When the US is best friends with SA in spite of Wahhabi sponsors, and Pakistan and it's Taliban pals? Are you kidding me? Iran is the best friend of the US culturally in the ME. Look it up. Persian culture is the closest ma

That's a statesman speaking. Bow. It is Moon, not Trump, nor Xi nor Kim, who deserves that prize. This has been the greatest diplomat and the greatest statesman you have had the chance to see in your lifetime yet. You just don't realize it... Bow. Deep

Please do not respond to this note. I will shut this whole thread down, otherwise. Which would be a pity... for good ideas and thoughts need to be encouraged. If anyone responds to this warning, you will be banned. Deep

If this thread gets any more partisan, I'll move it to the Gunpowder board. It's starting to sound that way. This is not pointed at Archaic, but the responses that followed. A positive and indeed, hopeful response to an inspiring development on this earth was almost eclipsed by negative and indeed, partisan parsing across the aisle. Disappointing... Please understand. Good things, no matter

We should discuss this on a separate thread. 'Rearden Metal' was nothing but technology. It doesn't make Rand obsolete, but instead reinforces the value of her viewpoint. You are possibly stating a belief as opposed to understanding the core philosophy. Anyway... Deep

Well, that calls for a separate thread then, unless you can articulate what you read that you disagree with. Deep

"Trump's party, the governing party in the U.S. right now, are quasi-libertarian, Ayn Rand fashioned donor hawks who have successfully propagandized poorly educated, rural white voters. The quasi-libertarian, donor hawks combined with the poorly educated to create a spurious electoral victory. The propaganda skill was imported from abroad. Further, Trump is not a conservative or a Republ

Nikki is becoming a very able operator of international relations. She speaks her mind. A powerful speaker and I think, a good to honest human being. But I don't see Donald vacating his seat, nor her challenging her boss in the primaries that she has supported all this time. So, it's a pipe dream. Deep

Had I decided to really censor you, I would have deleted your post. Instead, I personally find your perspective interesting. Thus I decided to move it where others might find it interesting too. Yes of course the mods have to do some categorizing, in light of the relative variance of the posts on this site... :) I hope you understand. Deep

Team, This topic was moved, and can be found here: The post was based on speculation, and thus the decision at this point. If facts on the ground justify this speculation, then it can always be be moved back to Global Vllage. Thanks, Deep

There is increasing talk of this on the beltway. While Trump cannot fire Mueller directly, Rod Rosenstein can. If he refuses to fire Mueller, Trump can fire Rosenstein and work his way down until he finds somebody in the dept willing to fire Mueller. The question is, what happens then? It'll trigger a constitutional crisis, and no one I've talked to really has a clear answer. Deep

The focus, in my opinion, should remain on his governance skills and policies. I don't give a rat's behind on who he is or was... in bed with. No different from Clinton or Rooseveldt, or JFK, for that matter... Do you want a red-blooded President, or a saint? None of us are saints here... Deep

What happened? A deep red state electing blue? I really wanna hear this spin. About ignoring national political wind directions, and attributing it to a local whirlwind. Did someone fart the adage... elections are won in the middle? Did a vanilla, boring democrat... (well, we'll leave it unsaid...) Deep

Frankly, it's no secret on this board that I'm not a fan of Trump. That is not because I dislike him as a person (which I do, but I still think he'd be fun to have a beer with...) but because I disagree with most of his policies on topics like immigration, isolationism, trade wars, economics and tax policy, border walls, and so on... except I strongly agree with his policies on defense and securi

I think the democrats would be better off in their ballot chances with really boring slogans in the coming elections. Instead of trying to excite their base with vague stuff that are political sound bites but rarely inspire. Like... "Friends and Neighbors with All," or "Sisterhood and Brotherhood," or "Make America Love Again," or "United, not Bipolar... muc

"In the closed-door remarks, a recording of which was obtained by CNN, Trump also praised China's President Xi Jinping for recently consolidating power and extending his potential tenure, musing he wouldn't mind making such a maneuver himself. "He's now president for life. President for life. No, he's great," Trump said. "And look, he was able to do that. I think it's great.

Oh come on. Even Jared Kushner said that a "disproportionate" amount of our assets are funded by Russian entities from the highest level. In the late 2000s. You really need a link to that? Deep

Hey Dane, I never said it was illegal. But it's simple horse sense. When you borrow a few million from the bank without liquidity to pay them back immediately, the bank owns you. They can dictate every action you take, from the woman you date to the country you wanna court... It's as simple as that. Deep

Trump has fired the first salvo at China. Steep tariffs on steel and aluminum. From all over, but it impacts China more than others. This can have resounding ramifications across continents. Russia would be happy to wait and see their main adversaries destroy each other so there is a geopoitical space created where it can step in. That was the strategy in the Ukraine, and is the strategy now.

I've been following this for a while. Especially the power of Russian frigates to hit Syrian targets after flying over Libya. There are no US frigates that can do that, only destroyers. You're right. The report is right. The gap is narrowing, and quickly. Having said that, the US will still inflict unimaginable and disabling damage to any country if provoked, that will set them back at least 1
