Hi Dave There's Sky satellite TV and normal UHF Free-to-view TV. But the only cable TV is in the Chritschurch area, afaik, so it's certainly not a prolific option. And all TV channels are riddled with adverts....a bit of a culture shock for us, as we were used to the ad-free and comparitively high quality BBC TV stations in the UK. There's no digital radio yet, to speak of. NZ has one of the mo

Thanks, Sue - I actually posses a genuine semi-antique Royal Doulton ceramic hot water bottle. It's like having a storage heater in the bed, as it is still quite warm the next morning! But wifey hates it, as she says she stubs her toes on it. - So it's been relegated to just being used to heat the bed before we retire for the night, lol. regards Guy

Well, folks, I have been living in NZ for just over 1 year, now, and here are my impressions so far.... and apologies if I unintentionally ruffle any Kiwi feathers reading this..... - Fantastic scenery - clean, unspoiled and often empty beaches & sea scapes, fresh air, spectactular mountains & volcanoes, rolling hills and forests/bush terrain etc. - Lovely birdlife, with many of the b

"some Hollywood bean counter " :) Well put, Briff - and how sad it is that so many re-makes are spoiled by them. Indeed, most of them should never have been resurrected in the first place. As for Citizen Kane, methinks a certain global media mogul won't be itching to see a re-make of that any time soon :) regards Guy

Hi Briffiths It's seldom a re-make can match, let alone outshine, an original classic. I wonder what another stab at The Matrix would be like, for instance, should someone come up with it again in 50 years' time or so. Best Guy

" I'm just really tired of cannibals, vampires and zombies. " -So you've reached saturation point, I guess ? ( lol) Seriously, though, I too am sick of blatant blood spattered gore and dark images and grotesque shadows etc, together with grinding music scores and often poor acting & direction. I watched I am Legend earlier this year, and although I enjoyed the beginning Apocalyp

A stunt team of 9 guys and 1 girl are all hanging off a rope ladder attached to a helicopter that is hovering 200 ft above a watching crowd. Then - the rope ladder starts fraying and the team realise that if it splits it will only be able to hold 9 people instead of 10. So - the team all realise that ONE of them will have to sacrifice their self and jump off in order to prevent the entire ro

Li's wife Anna has told friends her husband liked to jump on a bus and leave Winnipeg, sometimes disappearing for days at a time.
