Hi All, As far as I'm concerned, the quicker we Brits all start being European and stop clinging onto the past, the better. I have lived in the Canary Islands for 25 years now and have watched Britain hanging on for dear life whilst it has been invaded by immigrants from every part of the world and whilst claiming that it is still 'British'. Hello..... is there anyone out there that can see t

Hi Bert, I agree that to rebuild New Orleans seems utter stupidity but the 'human ape' likes to keep close to it's territory. How many times do we hear that the people living on the slopes of volcanoes such as Etna and Vesuvius, just re-build their homes once the eruption is over? Look at places such as San Francisco.... this one has the be the stupidest place to live just now, when it's know

Hi Don, It's been a while since we last talked on here. I just wanted to say that I agree with all that you say here. I know that emotions are high and lots of things are being said in defence of the apparent disorganisation that has taken place in New Orleans but the fact remains that it is too little, too late. I actually posted something similar this morning on another board and received

Hi Davel, "We get free healthcare mind you, and free University education for all for 5 years etc (in Scotland) anyway." Really? So who's paying for it then? The costs will just be re-arranged and called something else............. but whatever it is - it's not going to be free! There's no such thing as a free lunch!

Hi Gengus, Well having read the entire thread, I must say that I agree with your comments about giving away our own freedom when we ask for others' freedom to be curtailed. I am a fairly recent ex-smoker (15 months) and really do find that now that my nose has been cleared of the smoke in it and my taste-buds have been given back to me, I don't want to be around smokers any more. This is diffi

Hi Martin, I understand and appreciate what you say... What I was trying to say is that people only want their *own* privacy, but when it comes to *other* people, they dont....as I tried to put over in the example... Even with an ID card..people could still retain their rights as you have mentioned. regards Geoff

Hi Stephanie, Sorry for any offense that my post might have suggested........... none was meant, I can assure you. I just wanted to point out that there are two sides to every story. I agree with everything that you say about the war in Iraq and it's effects on the civilian population. There are many madmen in the world and they should all have their power curtailed in order for some peace t

Hi All, Geoff says....... "Are we now as a global human society to live in fear for daring to question historical events, to revise them if need be.....or are we to fall back to the ignorance of the dark ages when truth was locked away along with Galileo, when women were persecuted for witchcraft on behalf of the *other* big religion......." And while we're talking about the suppressi

Hi AO, "He truly believes he is right to kill those who have little to actually do with an invasion somewhere with grotesque death. He is not killing soldiers, he's killing people boarding a train to go to work." "He is the worst kind of madman. Hi Milo, "Hmm... I still don't see why we can't bother God directly through Jesus as a matter of choice. Supposing I don't want to accept your intermediaries, would I be branded as a fundamental terrorist?" But that's the whole point that many people who don't believe in any of the 'organised' religions try to make. Why can't you just bother God directly? Why is there the need to go

Hi Ananda, " I just read an article stating that scientists were concerned about women who use permanent hair dye being susceptible to cancer, and that there's some evidence that women who use underarm deodorant get breast cancer more often." It's not just hair dye and deodorants that can apparently cause cancer..... almost all the chemical substances that we have in our homes are m

Hi Fiasco, I've just found an article on the subject of skin cancer and sun screens. Here's an excerpt: "The sunscreen connection The Australian experience provides the first clue. Queensland now has more incidences of melanoma per capita t

Hi Anthony, >>>How will Americans be treated who want to visit the arab world? Not very well I'm afraid, although he might be in complete disagreement with Bush's policies. <<< That sounds like a comment made by someone who has never been to an arab country! Hi Cleo, >>Like hurricane Andrew. They say the official death count was something like 26. But check into it...there are survivors who tell a very different story. People who saw at least 70 dead people in one little area. The unnoficial death count is over 5,000 people I think.<< This was a shocking cover-up......... I kept this article on the subject: regards, Margaret

Steve, Thank you for your kind explanation of how a Message Board needs to be moderated. However, I feel that your input regarding this matter is becoming just a little patronising to those of us who have been posting here for the last three years. We, who come here most days to read and to post, have lived through the various crises of the GHMB, and are well aware of how Graham feels and of h
