Welcome Justin
I look forward very much to reading what you have to say here.
In my opinion the single greatest danger to humanity is ourselves and the future is therefore very much in our hands. Certain mind-sets, certain states of consciousness, coupled with great power and fanatical beliefs about the 'rightness' of one's own religion or one's own political preferences, and combined also with the readiness of huge numbers of people not to think for themselves, but just to an act in a robotic way according to the will and commands and manipulations of others -- these are the real threats we face as a species. At the same time, we all do have the power of choice, if we only choose to exercise it, and in this there is much hope.
The great shortage in the world today is not of oil, or minerals, or water, or land, or food but just plainly and simply of love -- the willingness to act out of love rather than out of hatred, fear and suspicion. And that is something we can all have an impact upon, no matter how powerless we may sometimes feel.
Warm best wishes
Graham
