I'm minded twofold:
A friend of mine once told me that he used to take LSD years back, on many occasions. He said that he often met up with entities, beings, spirits, who showed him the most amazing vistas and spoke incredible words of wisdom. They also made him feel blissfully loved and cherished.
Then one day, on one of his trips, he was shown a line of small, shuttered windows, windows which he sensed opened up into another realm, another place or dimension. He clearly felt invited to open up the shutters of one of them. So he did. But as soon as the shutters drew open he was confronted by a hideous, malovent grinning face, a face that glowed with such live evil that my friend hurriedly slammed the shutters on it.
He never tripped again, feeling very hurt and betrayed, bitterly sensing that he'd been "conned" and made to believe in something which ultimately didn't have his best interests at heart.
but another friend of mine still glows with pleasure when she tells me of the times that she has swum with dolphins, of the pure love that she feels from them. She says that she can sense their intelligence as well as their love; an intelligence that is so different to ours, and which we still cannot fully fathom. But the love - unconditional and unquestioning, my friend affirms, is a common, interspecial experience/sensation. So, perhaps, a true alien love could be similarly bridged.
