Great points CJ! Given the trial and death of Socrates, Plato had to create a myth, which sounded plausible but could not be blamed on him. Thus, I suggest that Plato took the Persian war on Greece which came from east to west and simply reversed it to west to east. It is important to note that Plato has both the Atlantean AND Greek forced destroyed in the same cataclysmic destruction. Since there were no survivors, it made the Egyptian connection more plausible. Thus, the war story itself is one of the weak points in the entire myth.
