It looks like communication and translation is the key in all this, and more, because we have a brain that gets stimulated and a mind that seeks understanding about what is coming into it. As a fetus, we only have as much stimulus as our surroundings offer up, besides what such simple connections our brain makes to our own growth in our various parts. Our primary connection to our mother is quite a lot more than being in her womb, as we are fed from her, not only nutritionally but also sensitively and emotionally...her serotonin and such becomes ours too...we may not be at all aware of what stimulates her to have serotonin arise but we do become affected by it in our own system.
And we dream in there...about what, we might one day find out when the right instruments are developed and dreams can be 'seen', but for now, we are ignorant about such a thing.
We have over 50% of the known elements within our body, and these can combine in all kinds of ways to produce all kinds of substances that our body makes use of, so us being able to react to such as DMT can easily be accepted, especially if our ancestors partook of such things which gave us the ability to process them. I know we aren't all the same, and depending on our ancestral tree, some of us can't react to certain things because it is not part of our make-up to process such things. I guess that is the same with experiences and education about such, and how many folk have tried all kinds of things in order to make sense of what it is that mankind is capable of, and whether we can avail ourselves of the experiences of others and either compare them to our own, or seek out ways to experience those things too. Considering the different things discussed in this topic, and so many more, we are a diverse bunch who do get a chance to estimate what it is that is possible because of what it is that others have done.
Entheogen looks to be the right word but it refers mainly to substances that come into us from parts of our surroundings and affects how our mind operates in making better sense of ourselves and the world, especially where spirituality is focused upon. It overlooks what we ourselves produce which also has us investigate - whether by accident or purpose - our own spirituality. I mentioned above somewhere that maybe there are other ways for us to investigate the subtle flow of life permeating all things that we try to make sense of, and besides being affected by substances, some kind of mindful approach also seems to do the trick. Or maybe it is more a mindless approach...not having a conscious awareness of what is occurring but a allowing the subconscious to be in control and observant...no ego whatsoever...just being a witness rather than a participant to something.
Dick's - and others - entity experiences look to be one of two things: the mind offering up hidden parts of itself in order for them to be aware and have relevance in their existence in the brain; an expression of an existing thing able to be perceived by our brain while under the influence of a substance that allows them to operate in one of our levels of awareness. The only certainty we may have about which is if we can get them to operate beyond the brain. If they do indeed have form, then they have to exist somewhere else, right?
This is very much the same reality we place upon all manner of things...if we can perceive it and understand it, we are communicating with it and it with us. We can see a tree as a tree and it is what it is, or we can be quite egoless about ourselves and take on a tree's form and function and know a tree for what it is for itself...but we project parts of ourself onto a tree in order to better understand it, don't we...
I think knowing our own mortality gives us incentive to find out as much as possible about all manner of things so that we can become a lot easier with such knowledge. All religions and beliefs offer different ways in which we can become easy with such a thing, and I think if something doesn't ring true to us, we seek further understanding elsewhere. Trying to identify what DMT and such does to us opens up some doors for further exploration about what it is that we are capable of, and also in what we perceive other things are capable of. DMT and such connects different parts of ourselves and allows them to operate in ways we don't normally operate under, and either enhances or diminishes ways we can think and perceive...and translate what is seemingly being offered for communication.
We all have our beliefs about things, and certainly our facts and our fallacies, so pretty much anything is possible, right? But how far do we go to be certain that what we think is real and true, or just leave alone as being things difficult to work out? We have to try some things in order to find out, don't we...or we end up defining that what happens to others is just weird because we don't experience such. Or...we educate ourselves about all kinds of things so when we are presented with the odd, we can have a fuller way to make sense of such, or give something similar a go so we can at least experience similar in our own way and have something to fall back on when trying to make sense of something else.
In a funny way, we're all still in a great big womb, being supplied with so much of what we need in order to grow, and yet we have little idea what is awaiting our 'birth' where we only have ourselves to rely on to exist. I wonder if dissolution of the ego, and then rebuilding it, is the beginning of that 'birth'...and being introduced to things that mess up who we think we are is the beginning of such a journey.
Hmm...maybe there is more to this than meets the eye haha...who's up for tying to perceive the unseen?
Everyone! Cool...and all it takes are explorers like Dick to give over their journeys so such as I can estimate what they do against how I do what I do, and see how much they are alike. Looks like we all do the same, right?
