To answer this, I’ll first refer to my smoked DMT experiences, wherein oftentimes my sense of self and my capacity for rational cognition remained intact (a surprising and somewhat unique effect for such a potent psychedelic). This to the extent I feel sure I had capacity to hold normal conversation with, say my wife - despite it appearing that I’m in an exceptionally hyper-defined realm that appears peopled with seemingly autonomous humanlike entities, who are all interested in my presence there. And similar experiences, albeit where the appearance of that exceptionally hyper-defined realm exhibited a semi-transparent nature, such that I could see the humanlike entities, in their bizarre realm, but I could also see through that to the walls and the ceiling of my domestic setting. I guess one could say a half-breakthrough rather than a full breakthrough?
To your ayahuasca-specific question, I do believe it’s possible. My last ayahuasca experience was incredibly intense (like a smoked DMT experience - I genuinely had no idea the ayahuasca experience could be so powerful) but the capacity to speak to my neighbour either side of me had not forsaken me. I had no thought to speak to them, and interacting with others during the experience is discouraged, but possible yes.
The above scenario is me on a mattress with eyes closed.
Would it be possible to see entities with eyes open and converse with others? On the basis of the smoked experiences outlined, I do believe that would be possible, in a favourable setting.
