Thanks for this, Madeleine. The philology on the Sumerian KIK/GIG is complicated. I don't personally see the connection to the Greek kukao (to stir up, mix, be confounded), but it's possible in the long line of etymologies that may have once connected Indo-European to Sumerian. A tenuous thread for the moment. But I will certainly follow up.
