Well said, which is why I believe that academia is on its way to becoming a secondary source for quality information. The environment is simply too tainted by careerist thinking to function optimally. Prior to the Internet, academics could hide their dysfunction quite easily. This has been greatly removed now, and thanks to the Web others can quickly identify and expose academia's dysfunction easily and without fear of repercussion.
