No I do not think humans could have appeared through random processes. Besides it is well known that when for instance fruit flies are mutated through radiations (which is the mechanism neo-Darwinists believe is behind evolution) they do not produce any more viable versions of themselves. The timing of evolution is very precise and follows the creation waves very precisely. It is just that few people know about it.
When it comes to academic neo-Darwinists they have in a sense painted themselves into a corner. For decades they have been fighting against Young earth creationists who claim that there was no evolution and that created all the species in 6 literal days or seven. This is of course a silly idea, but at least in the US it has had so much traction that they have decided to lock themselves into a very rigid view of evolution which has no higher purpose and is completely random. The entire scientific community has put its prestige behind such a view. The actual facts however speak in another direction, but in a strictly academic setting you may not talk about it loudly.
