Hi, the Norse gods were not Norse in my opinion. I suspect that the creation of many Scandinavian myths, along with those of neighbouring Finland and Karelia in NW Russia, were the result of incoming Finno-Ugric peoples who reached northern Europe in the wake of the last ice age. They were post-Swiderian cultures whose point of origin was either in the vicinity of the Urals or further east in the Altai.

You can trace the development in stone tool technology like a paper trail all the way from the Altai and Mongolia right across to Scandinavia.

Thus many of the myths and legend of the Norse peoples most likely had their origin much further to the east in North Asia.

According to my own findings it was Swiderian or Post-Swiderian carrier cultures who came down through the Caucasus into Anatolia and influences the foundation of Pre-Pottery Neolithic complexes like that of Gobekli Tepe.

Swiderians also, no doubt, reached norther Britain, the Orkney Isles in particular, kickstarting what would become the Neolithic explosion there.
