Hi Jim,

Thanks for your response. Again, I'm not saying that 7 foot tall people weren't in the Americas and I think it would be pretty cool if they were. But there is a genetic limit and a stabilizing mean for height that, while allowing for variability, we can't stray too far from without sacrificing fitness. People, and especially women, greater than 7 feet in height suffer greater health problems and die younger than those close to the mean. Until very recently, people that large simply didn't live long enough to reproduce.

Do you think such a race were Native Americans, Europeans, or other? Along those lines, are you familiar with the Cherchen and Tarim mummies that were found in China?

One other question. You mentioned the University of Pittsburgh and the Carnegie Museum as having been in possession of some of the bones. Where did you get that information? Duane and I are both locals. I can't speak for him but I'd love to track that down. :))
