Someone once asked me for my definition of spiritual and spirituality. She wanted to understand how on Earth I could know what those concepts meant to the builders of Stonehenge. My answer was that my definition of spiritual and spirituality have nothing to do with my research, and I cannot speak for people living 4500 years ago. However, evidence at Stonehenge and an untold number of other prehistoric and historic sites clearly shows that people during the Neolithic believed in the spirit of life and sensed connection with it. Each culture may have defined it differently, but these things are expressed overtly in the symbolism. Whether I believe or not is of little consequence in that matter.
Perhaps i'll save it for another book. ;-)
