Orion is certainly pertinent today. It is an important constellation in Hindu, Islam, Christianity, Maya, native North America, and our understanding of cultures from around the world and throughout time. However, many (perhaps most) people practicing those religions and sacred lifeways are not aware of Orion's importance to development and understanding of their religion. Interestingly, there is current thought that the source of material in our solar system may derive from that part of the cosmos. . . . . . .
I wonder though whether you consider that in the scientific world of today the pattern in the sky of stars we call Orion has any kind of mysterious, or 'spiritual' significance. My answer to that is most decidedly not!, but I would be interested to know if you are drawn to that idea.
*that's the wrong word but I can't think of the right one just at the moment.
