Some food are left in the wild to eat what they want and then get shot and be dead before they hit the ground.

Others are left in the wild to over populate and have mass starvations come winter. Somehow being too weak to get up to find food and lay in the snow for a week starving to death seems more like torture then a bullet to the brain.

All this is irrelevant as Martin states in a previous post:
Quote

Our inability to recognise fear or pain or mental anguish in an animal we slaughter does not indicate an absence of torture.

Since we are inable to recognise these then how does proving torture occur? It is an assumption based on a subjective view point.

The natural tendancy of humans has been to eat meat in the diet. To not eat diet is a personal choice. All these meat/no meat arguments tend to fall under the more factual "I want to force my personal choice onto others that don't follow my way" arguments.

The food industries do have very poor records for animal conditions bu that is not to say anyone raising animals for food is the same as the industries.
Free range animals have a normal life until the day they are slaughtered for food, I repeat food not fun/entertainment. There are those who eat meat, slaughter animals, and eat animals that do not look forward to watching a cow, hog, etc. suffer any length of time. Contrary to what some may think these people do not enjoy animals suffering being as they have spent a considerable amount of time raising them.
A person who wants to be vegeterian I say "Good for them!" and keep on with my lifestyle. I can testify to the results of being sloppy once, and only once, at dispatching a chicken. It wasn't pretty, fun, entertaining, or a good feeling to my backside. I learned a valuable lesson that day through getting sick, a stern lecture, and a belt to the butt.
So to those who think that people who eat meat torture animals to get it like some idiot in a ring to cowardly to face/fight a bull fairly then they are either to far set in their beliefs or are just ill informed.

Yes I have processed farm animals. Yes I have hunted for food to put in the freezer. And every one of them, except that chicken, were dead before they hit the ground due to the "mean ol' meat-eater" making sure of the shot and ensuring they died immediately so as not to inflict unnecessary pain due to my laziness.

Just wondering how much leather products and such has passed thru vegetarian households?
