Then why are foster care systems overwhelmed?
The son and daughter in law of one of my co-workers can't have children. Rather than adopt a child, they "adopted" embryos and are in the process of implantation. Because they "adopted" from a Catholic organization, they had to stipulate in their wills that the embryos not be destroyed and had to designate someone to care for them. I'm not kidding. At $13K per implant, it's pricey.
So many children languish in foster care until they age out. They spend the first 18 years of their lives never knowing the love and security a family provides.

Stupidity is knowing the truth, seeing the truth but still believing the lies. And that is more infectious than any other disease. ~ Richard Feynman
