I was just comparing Great Zimbabwe with the theory about the possible connection to Orion and the local legend of following the bright star to find the place.
Yes; legends concerning distant stars are ubiquitous in the customs and traditions of our early ancestors – yet an interest in astronomy would seem to have little or no practical use for these ancient civilisations. Unless of course these people believed life here on earth is part of a single living cosmological entity. And if this were the case, and I believe it was and still is, then an interest in distant star constellations is of fundamental importance to all life on earth.
