Did you know that back in the 60s the Air Force Academy had a textbook that included a chapter on UFOs and aliens? The textbook said that there are 4 species visiting us. They revised the book in the 1970s.

As for why they haven't taken over, maybe that isn't their goal. If they've been here for thousands of years and haven't invaded yet, what are the chances they're going to? In movies, they always want our water or some other resource, but water now appears abundant in the universe. Why waste energy trying to drag it up to their ship when they can harvest it some other way? That's just an example.
