Just to throw in a whole different perspective, I'd like to venture an opinion on this story. The way I perceive the story in Genesis is that Adam represents Consciousness(Spirit) and Eve represents psyche/soul(inner self). Consciousness and Psyche were one, then were divided. Psyche(Eve) led Consciousness(Adam) into identification with the body. The Serpent or Devil/Saten is our negative self, created by a figure the Original Christians called the Demiurge, who later became the God of the Old Testament. While he sees himself as God, he is not the True Source, the Universal Consciousness that is really God. He represented Ego. He is not evil, so much as ignorant and foolish. Ego's bungled attempt to cope with difficult, unresolved emotions created the Devil(negative Self). The ego traps us into the illusion of separateness.
Christ is the uniter, the Divine Spark within(the Consciousness of God), who frees us to realize Oneness again. The bad inspires us to seek a deeper sense of joy, leading us to discover our true essence. The psyche-body is what we appear to be. Consciousness is what we are. The psyche-body is an ongoing event witnessed by Consciousness.
"Bad People" are only those who have not yet awakened. They are still convinced they are the body and end up hurting themselves and others while attempting to serve their own selfish interests.
Once we are aware of the Oneness, guilt and blame become irrelevant. As we realize immortality, fear ceases to exist. We see 'evil-doers' simply as those still unaware of their True nature as Good and unaware of the unity of all things. As we awaken we gradually realize we are learning on many planes simultaneously. We commune with the Oneness and love all It's many appearances. We embrace discovery as Being witnessing Becoming.
