(b) God will communicate various things, but some of those things are rules about how to live our lives."
I disagree that "God" communicates to "us" in such a manner - unless one is a prophet; only prophets claim to have direct verbal instructions from "God", but then we have only their word for it. Me, I don't trust prophets or indeed anyone else who attempts to put "words" into the mouth of God. This does not mean that I disagree with the idea that "God" communicates with us.
It's all down to your personal interpretation of what God is, whether your own God cares (and in what way) how your own interpretation of God communicates with you etc.
In the whole scheme of things, love will always be love no matter how it's dressed up, commitment will always be commitment, with or without a blessing, and negativity will always be negativity - even if some claim it's "what God told me".
