I don't know if I agree or not. Perhaps it was too facile a comment, but I was thinking of what little I know about Siberian shamans, their connection to spirit and approaches to music. All of our terminology is used in vastly different ways than equivalent words were in past cultures. I don't find the word shamanistic burdened with excessive baggage, it only suggests the ability to impact the physical environment with non-physical means.
