Hi Sphinx,

Actually, yes I am. Believe me, I've been researching this for many years and meditating on these things daily. I love studying ancient history as well as the Bible, and I no longer think that the two are in conflct. When I realized one day that the Bible I had been studying for years was not the first, my eyes were opened.
Yes, you are right, the ancient Egyptian religion does appear to be a mixture of things. But this doesn't desuade me at all. As I stated in another post, much the of the translations of the Pyramid Texts and the Book of the Dead were recopied later. The later artists of the Papyrus of Ani were sloppy, they didn't understand what they were copying, and they left many things out because either they ran out of room or they didn't see the the significance and in some cases they added things. In others words, much of what was rewritten has been "distorted or even perverted" from it's original meaning.
Also, we must understand the "wicked nature of mankind". I am proposing that the ancient Eyptians were the ancestors of the Hebrews, but I am not prosing they were perfect. The Bible has many accounts of God's people going off after "Baal" worship and the worship of idols and other strange rituals. But the first Eyptians were much different than the later Egyptians. In fact, I believe they were a different "family of people" altogether.
As to what you wrote about the Mountain of the Moon: Very, very, interesting. I don't have a problem with this at all. Many stories have come out of Africa, such as the "Lion King".
As for Osiris (also represented as Orion).... I believe him to be another "type" of Jesus. The ancient Egyptians believed in the concept of the resurrection of the body and "eternal life" and that after the resurrection, one would receive a new or glorified body. Osiris suffered a cruel death and horrible mutulation inflicted by the"powers of evil", died, then was resurrected as a saviourof the world. This story continued throughout all of the dynasties, virtually, unaltered. I find this to beinteresting.
Here's an example of one the textsfrom the Book of the Dead regarding Osiris :
"Hail to thee, Osiris, lord of eternity, king of the gods, thou who hast many names, thou disposer of created things, thou who has hidden forms in the temples, thou sacred one, thou KA who dwellest in Tattu.....(further down we read:) to thee are obedient the stars in the heights, and thou openest the mighty gates. Thou art the lord of whom hymns of praise are sung in the southern heaven, and unto thee are adorations paid in the northern heaven........When those who are among the holy ones see thee they tremble at thee, and the whole world givest praise to thee when it meeteth thy majesty.......(later on) Thou hast made this earth by thy hand, and the waters thereof, and the wind thereof, the herb thereof, and all the four-footed beasts thereof.....the world is gratified when thou ascendest thy father's throne like Ra."
In the Bible, we have Abraham who traveled to Egypt, Moses who was raised in Egypt, Joseph is carried to Egypt and ends up living there, then in the New Testament, the angel tells Joseph to take Mary and Jesus to Egypt to flee Herod's murderous rampage. Why Egypt? There were many other places to flee to. My educated guess, is that they all visited the city of "On" or Heliopolis. They were drawn there. The Bible is silent on what happened to Jesus while in Egypt, but the Gnostics texts aren't. They tell of Jesus when he was but a small child entering into the gates of a particular city in Egypt. There the "pillars and idols" literally fell down and broke apart before him when he entered after they announced his presence.
The "Word of Osiris" spread all over the world back then, just as the "Word of God" of the Holy Bible has spread to the whole world today. It's an amazing parallel.
There's much more, but I don't want this post to get too lengthy.
Sincerely,
Kimberly
