Charlotte Masuda who used to post here and at Ma'at had some interesting views on the use of the country of Egypt in the Bible as a metaphor for our own spirituality. It's an interesting subject to ponder on overall.
As for Osiris leading mankind astray - it's worth noting that the AE gods evolved over millennia, so the way the gods were perceived slowly changed to the point where many were unrecognisable from their original forms. This has to be borne (?) in mind when studying Osiris Isis etc. The latter forms of the main divinities were quite different; something that can be seen to correllate with the shifting times of early civilisations moving from their Golden Age through to their corrupt forms which always seemed to predede their downfalls. It's man that causes this, not the divinity, in my opinion.
The concept of Ma'at in it's pure form is all about the universal balance and couldn't lead man astray, but as we know from studying the pharaohs, many of them did not respect the law of Ma'at and were very hypocritical - again, not the fault of the divinity but of man's selfish nature.
