I was saying, explicitly and directly, that sex can be seen as both a physical union between male and female... as between Jesus and MM... and as a symbol for the mystical union between divine or supernatural beings, and for the integration of the psyche, the balance between anima and animus, etc.
I was also saying that a problem with discussing the possibility that the relationship between Jesus and MM was sexual could be due to the layering of Paulian and Augustinian notions upon indoctrinated minds, insofar as gnosticism and Pelagianism were suppressed and called heretical.
IMO, who are we to say that the Gnostics did not consider the relationship of Jesus and MM to be sexual? It seems pretty clear that there was a sexual component to that kiss. But the transcendent, mystical element of "sex" would be just as important or more so. Why can't we have both? That's all.
