Hi SS,
>>Yeah....but the point is you DID hear the story. But without going out and spreading the story, a lot of people would NEVER hear it. Today...even today...there are countries where Christianity (or any non-government accepted religion) is out and out illegal. Places where families are murdered for becoming Christians. So -- there is a reason for going out and evangelizing.<<
How about this point?
"Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgement, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel." (Mt 23:23-24)
Take another look at the scripture yourself, SS, rather than relying on so-called authorities to tell you what it says -- to tell you what it means. You may learn that it's NOT every last man, woman and child that must be "evangelized," but only that "this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all NATIONS" (Mt 24:14). The word is ethnos in the Greek. It seems to me those nations (read: the leadership or headship or proprietorship of those nations) must have already heard about the Gospel in order for them to have ordinanced its illegality.
I don't know about you, SS, but it seems to me it is finished. Now what?
