I think most people will forgive your outburst, since it was heartfelt and partly a frustrated response to the materialism that is running rampant in our world. I feel the same anger when I see wealthy people more concerned with "entertaining" and keeping up with the Jones than with helping their fellow man who might barely have enough to survive. But I disagree with your blanket statement about meditation being escapism. It can be used that way, to just turn off your brain and not worry about things. But it can also be a valuable tool for self-discovery and insight, which might then give one an advantage when trying to solve the problems that exist in the "outside world" It just depends on how one chooses to use meditation and the knowledge gained from it.
