I too am convinced that the "religion" of the ancient, especially Hindu and AE was actually complex science clothed in mythology. However I think that Milo is talking about the shamanic version of some spiritual realms and since I myself had an unpleasant glimpse of something ugly lurking out there I have to be open minded about that. The Egyptians with all their sophisticated scientific knowledge were also weary of "evil spirits" etc. I wish someone with more scientific mind could explain this dichotomy.
