David, I've noticed that the practitioners of witchcraft in Latin America claim that man is made of earth, air, water, and fire. They make liberal use of grave earth, water, and fire in the casting of their spells. Just this weekend, when my wife's cousins came over to visit us from East Los Angeles, I took them over to an old abandoned cemetery in the miserable-looking little village of nearby Oro Grande. The women were afraid to get out because that poverty-stricken village has a lot of mean-looking gang-bangers roaming around. It is not uncommon for visiting strangers to get attacked there. While visiting the graveyard, we found that a witchcraft rite had been held on a 100 year old grave - that of a little girl. On top was a doll, with what looked like a gold medallion wrapped around it. Both of us were afraid to pick it up and examine it. My wife thinks that a pregnant woman might have placed it on the grave, to assure a satisfactory birth of her baby. Gene
