The narrative of Jesus in the NT is a re-working of the story of Joseph in the OT.

Here are some obvious parallels, far too many for a person to claim 'coincidence':

* Beloved of His father
* Envied and hated without a cause
* a root out of dry ground
* he told that one day he would rule
* accused of being a fantasist / daydreamer / delusional (choose most apt)
* sent by the father to seek the brothers' welfare
* rejected and condemned to die
* stripped of his clothing
* sold for silver
* raised (from the pit / from the dead)
* resisted temptation
* falsely accused
* promoted to honour and glory, being given a new name
* all people commanded to bow to him
* provided for those in need
* his people did not recognise him
* his brothers were troubled when they met him
* allowed his brothers to suffer a period of tribulation
* revelation and reocniliation

I can provide you with comparative Bible references should you want them but I'm sure you know your holy book well enough to make the connections. Jesus did.

It's just a re-working. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Fulfilling prophecy: if, as we are led to believe, that Jesus knew scripture well, then the OT narrative of Joseph served him very well indeed. Some would go as far to say, it suggested he was fulfilling biblical prophecy.

Confirmation bias, others might call it.
