I personally am not impressed with Western "literalism". I have read a more eclectic range of spiritual books, like The Revelation of Saint John by Zachary F. Lansdown, a truly inspired tract of the awakening possible in the mythological train of interpretation. I enjoyed it and can return to it as I choose, just like the Eternal Tao book I just mentioned.
In my opinion, truly INSPIRED individuals have re-interpreted these Biblical books in a 21st century format. I like the spirituality of these two books and expect more innovations in re-interpreting the Bible.
It is ALWAYS a good time to "look again" with fresh eyes when studying the Bible. Even the Jewish people have The Kabbala in their repertoire; so why not a more mystical food for thought?
