Back in college which was a long time ago. I did s study on what in U S Catholicism was a document called the Boston Catechism. As I remember sin was an intentional, I.e., knowing violation of God’s laws. Therefore sin did not include traffic violation or spelling errors. Now, they did beak sins into mortal and venial.
Well, that is what I remember and after reading it, I thought that there was a lot less sin in the world then people thought.
Just my 2 cents.
The thing is, though, that believers talk of 'God's laws'. Since all the available scientific and archaeological evidence seems to point in the direction of all these being human ideas, how do people convince themselves that there is a God to make laws in the first place?!
