A friend rang me yesterday evening to say that she had heard an item which she knew would interest me, since I have had to have two courses of antibiotics recently for a repeated UTI infection. Such infections are more common in older women, which is extremely annoying!
The item was about how bacteria seem able to separate themselves from their outer layers and remain free to persist. Apparently antibiotics are directed at their outer surface.

I have been googling, but cannot find a relevant link, so I wonder if anyone has any other information or links?
