There are perhaps a half-dozen considerations at each stage of Velikovsky's scenario for the birth of Venus that require special explanation (sometimes officially answered with the feeblest of rationales), but that all evaporate if he's right. His outlook on these issues continues to align with what we've learned from probes like the ESA's Venus Express, Mars Express, and from exo-solar system studies. At very least, we know with certainty that the method of birth he proposed for Venus is a viable one and it's reported ancient appearance in the ballpark of what we know is reasonable. Given the mindset in 1950, it might be understandable that serious consideration was not given to Velikovsky's scenario. Given what we know now, it's flatly unreasonable.
