Quite right about liberating Poland ;-j
Whilst I would love to be able to say that we all worked together on that one, we should not in any way underestimate the role of both the Soviet Union and China in WW2.
As it stood, at huge cost to both US and British Empire forces, we only provided extra 'hands on deck' to fight that fight. I do not underappreciate the selflessness of the people involved, but would like to point out the very large róle of people whose backs really were up against the wall and truly in the middle of that war. 10-30 million Soviets and countless Chinese civilians and military also paid for their freedom with their lives.
I find it difficult to agree the case being put earlier in the thread of "where would the world be without the US" quite abhorrent. It certainly deprocates the role of the team effort that we all played in removing the threat of national fascism of the 1940s.
