You know that you can't answer my question honestly, so you try to reframe the discussion into something that is more forgiving of Mr. Lennon.
Are you claiming that he left the EDL because he thought Muslims were so great, but those darn racists winnowed their way in and took over his organization, turning it into something ugly and evil?
What kind of man is he that he would let others do that to his organization that he created?!? Why didn't he kick them out and keep the EDL? Barring that, why didn't he start up a new organization afterwards to do the good work he wanted to when he founded the EDL?
The Council of Europe defines Islamophobia in this manner: “[Islamophobia is the] fear of or prejudiced viewpoint towards Islam, Muslims and matters pertaining to them…[taking] the shape of daily forms of racism and discrimination or more violent forms, Islamophobia is a violation of human rights”. The 2016 definition offered by the Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research (SETA): “Islamophobia operates by constructing a static ‘Muslim’ identity, which is attributed in negative terms and generalized for all Muslims.”
I have bolded the selected portion, because it seems very obvious that both you and Mr. Lennon are constructing a static "Muslim" identity (6th century, gang-raping, war-mongering, cutting people's heads off, ring a bell, Pete?), and then refusing to talk about how Muslims have changed since then.
Did Lennon mean this tweet, in 2016? “I’d personally send every adult male Muslim that has come into the EU over the past 12 months back tomorrow if I could. Fake refugees"
Did he mean this, in an East London, 2011 speech: "Every single Muslim watching this… on 7/7 you got away with killing and maiming British citizens… you had better understand that we have built a network from one end of the country to the other end… and the Islamic community will feel the full force of the English Defence League if we see any of our British citizens killed, maimed, or hurt on British soil ever again"
