I'm relatively new to your MB and other MB's but I have been keenly following the dialogues and infos reg your trip to Southeast india.
As much as I would congratulate and appreciate your sincere efforts at trying to prove the underwater remains at poompuhar and mahabalipuram, the statement by NIO and your succeeding comments on that make me feel worse.
I 'm not aware of the problems caused with linking u'r name and NIO with the Gulf of cambay issue as mentioned by a posting by Dave above, neverethelss as an Indian myself, I'm ashamed and frustrated by the fact that an Indian government organisation would indeed behave in the manner they have done!
I have personally undergone many such frustrations and disregarding behaviour of the Indian governmental authorities. Belive me, this is not a new or a first time basis for such behaviour from an Indian organisation,if this would help you in anyway!
However as much as I share your frustration at NIO's statement, this whole expedition would not have gained the meaning or the importance or the support required from the local level without NIO as a partner. I say this again with well experienced knowledge of the Indian bureaucratic system and how it works! I guess they have made use of this point as their leverage to "claim" whatever to these discoveries!!
Once again I hope this does not deter your enthusiasm and drive to carry on your and the SES team's work towards the recent discoveries and take it up further!
