I think most would concure this coffer of Mycerninus is perhaps modelled on an actual building.
Now I am not saying it is a department store or anysuch thing however any building of that size has to allow light to enter.
So I am throwing this out there LOOK at the building and ask if some of the panels represent glass windows?
To compare with a famous building 'Selfridges' look at the shape and remember 'there is nothing new under the sun'.
When was glass invented?
