My theory predicts that there are exactly such structures in this area that are original and put there by the builders to support the casing as they cladded the structure starting on the top step.
These stone have long been of extreme importance to me but like everything else concerning the reality of the pyramid Egyptologists don't care and don't report about such things. There's probably a note in some dusty old book but God only knows what that note comprises.
