I guess for the LoSt OnEs (that's plural because I don't know whether you believe these are the results of the earlier LOst granite carvers or one of numerous later LoSt granite recyclers/recarvers, sans any actual ancient Egyptians) it's not the same reason why the Late/Saite period ancient Egyptians did it that way?
So you say that none of the amazing "tolerances" are for the outside of the box...... really! Oh dear....... now I have no idea how the flashlight, the surface measuring bar, and his eye were all lined up perfectly on the surfaces. Puts a Tantric/Yoga contortion master's unbelieving glance to horrid shock.........
