Somewhere out there in the WWW is a video about these Serapeum which shows that not all the internal corners are exact.
I would have thought that this apparent lack of perfection matters.
There were other details but I can't bring them to mind, but, then, my interest in this granite working in the Ancient world is rather casual.
Having said that, I was fascinated - and at one point stunned - by the BBC documentary on the city of Hattusha - see my thread 'Granite and the Ancients'.
