There are plenty of us who are well-trained in the scientific methods with impeccable observational skills who are quite capable of researching the existing literature and able to draw very sound conclusions without being directly associated with a luminary academic institution which may or may not have a hidden agenda. Objectivity can be found anywhere, but certainly not everywhere, as is seen here at GHMB.
Just look at the private associations organized by the Russians to explore these sites and it becomes clear that independent study often is more productive than years of formal academic effort with all of its economic and political baggage.
I think we are making some rather striking progress here at GHMB over the past couple of months. I'm getting ready to make a few trips, myself. Perhaps we should organize a group retreat here and there...
