SC: Khuf should actually be written xwf. The thing is though, we don't know the vowel sound after the x (KH). Or, indeed, after the 'w' or the 'f'.
For example xwfw (what we know as Khufu) could have been pronounced by the AEs as xIwOfEw whilst xfw (Khnum Khuf) might have been pronounced entrely different: AxUfIwE. The point is that they can appear very similar but have totally different vowel sounds thus making them completel different names. We just don't know any or how many vowels were used in these 'names'.
