Any information you can share on the glyphs is most appreciated. I am especially glad to read your post because I've been harping about the Khufu cartouche having obvious remnants of erasure. I was wondering what the horned serpent would originally have been, and so find your observation very interesting. Any notion on what might have been around the sieve glyph ?
Here is another picture of the bottom, which shows it does not go into the joint.


Jon posted an excellent observation on the slant of the glyphs above the cartouche. Using Vyse's own journal as an example, when writing from left to right, there is often an incline unless one is a draftsman. This also could indicate it was drawn in situ.[r]
