I couldn't agree more.
The exact same thing exists in the PT and is denoted by Mercer with "lit" or "literally"; that is the Egyptians wrote one thing but Egyptologists believe it is wrong. There are numerous examples. There are also words that are used in different ways so Egyptologist just translate the to mean what they believe mustta been meant. "3gb" for instance is translated "violent", "inudation" or "abundance" dependent on context even though it might have meant all three.
I believe real "scribal errors" were rare to non-existent. Instead we have Egyptologists trying to pound square pegs into round holes.
