I think .. and this is my take on it; ... that Giza was the show piece, the shining star of the efforts and constructions of the peoples who lived in this era and were so very attuned to star knowledge, lore and religious beliefs.

If the Bird Cults were "early on" in the development of these nations, as at the sites in the near East --below ground sites, etc .. (and there were many different peoples, I think, ... all tied to the stars, and all trading with and conversant with the existence of each other) ... practicing ex-carnation using birds of prey: Remember Thoth .. .. child of the gods left behind when they went ... to walk the walk with us, and guide us ... also a bird.

Egypt unconcerned with the Simurgh Shaman of Early Middle East, (those days long forgotten). .. Egypt would have streamlined the message of passing, to match the elegance of the priestly precinct it was, perhaps?
...

Early On they "may have had" more concern with the Bird Aspect of it ...

By Egypt's later times, the concern was crossing to the Duat .. (not going before the Great Bird of Heaven for your reincarnation, as they are finding reference for in South America, or your possible transmigration as in the very early Middle East).

The culture and population of S. America may prove to be huge, after they find all the remains under the jungle!

I personally believe that South America will predate Giza by some many centuries and Africa (Adam's Calendar; by some hundreds more --reaching back to the hey-days of Malta or so.) .. again, I don't write, don't lecture, and I get to range my mind and opinions more widely, there fore; .. but bear with me for just a bit.

What if we find that the references for the Great Bird (-- accretion arms of the Milky Way?) .. will in some way reference to Nut the sky goddess ... ??

((The serpent and the serpent wielder may represent the axis of rotation?))

Not saying it is, or that I have any kind of evidence ... just offering the possibility ..

One Hunahpu is trapped at galactic center ... his head is in the Calabash Tree ... However, his body/soul rests here on Earth (or within it, I have not read the Hero Twin epic).
...
He was captured, and his head taken, by the Gods at galactic center ... might they be "of" the Gods which are laid out in the star pattern on Giza? Might they be more powerful gods, than those of the Maya?

There is lots of translation yet to come from S. America.

Another thing, Orion is clearly a timing device ..
His rise and fall in the sky marks ages within Egypt -- clearly laid out in the design of Giza ..

Time was also a factor which was exceedingly important to the Ancients; they would not change their calendars to match Earth Rhythms, they kept them true to a yet undisclosed belief system.

The Egyptian and Mayan are not so different! ... But maybe their hierarchy of beliefs, and gods are?

If the timings within the calendars match and glyphs for some gods match .. we will have a wonderful new disciple .. .. ..

Orion is --AT LEAST, and CERTAINLY-- for timing ... clearly laid out.

Might Cygnus serve some other, as yet unknown, function? It does map well to the site.

Serpent male / Bird Female / at right angles in the cosmos .. the arms and the pole of rotation. ... The serpent and the bird are on the crowns, and the serpents are under the wings of the winded disk above all temple doorways in Egypt. ... Certainly there will be some connection!

... .. I did not finish up that GHMB conversation long ago, I will have to go and read the things I missed ....

... and I am still trying to figure out how to ask Robert about the stick men kneeling on calves in the house of the cattle yoke .. and how they might relate to Ethiopia and some other places. Working on wording. ...
