Yes, I do have a question.
And calm your jets, sir, because I mentioned you out of respect in this context, it wasn't an ad hominem at all.
You are the grand old dame of orthodoxy on this forum, and I can think of no one more qualified to deal with this vexing issue, this radical departure within orthodoxy. There is no one whose belief in their own expertise on the religious beliefs of the AEs is as strong as yours, and I would therefore welcome your tuppence worth.
In response to Scott's idea that the portcullis mechnism outside the kings chamber was designed to work in reverse, as it were, to open the tomb up again (because it wasn't a tomb, it was a recovery vault and therefore meant to be opened again at some point, according to his RVT theory) Archae Solenhofen, instead of just saying "no, it was simply not meant to be opened again, regardless of the mechanism", put forward a hastily conceived theory in return. This is what I call the Routine Maintenance Theory, or RMT for short. In effect, it meant that yes the portcullis would be opened again and the tomb opened for maintenance, fixing the granite etc, with the body of the pharoah popped out and set aside when this was going on.
Now, Archae sadly hasn't expounded his theory any further from that, but I thought - given how strongly and consistently you all demand it from others - why not give it a spot of peer review. Not formal, academic peer review, but peer review here on this forum. And who better to do that than you?
That's the question. What do you think of Archae's RMT? The theory that the tomb WOULD be opened again every now and then for maintenance etc, and the pharoah's eternal rest being interupted so that the maid could get round with her feather duster?
