The pyramid Recovery Vault Theory proposes that the granite plugs at the bottom of the Ascending Passage were built in-situ. There's some evidence to support this. As such, there would be no entry for Khufu's mummy into the pyramid.
The Recovery Vault Theory proposes that the recovery items would be placed into the chambers via the Ante Chamber roof (when still open), packing a racking system within the Grand Gallery and, of course, the King's Chamber. Since much of the storage goods would consist of various types of seed it would be important to minimise the amount of air-flow within the chambers. Air carries moisture which would affect the temperature of the interior of the storage chambers, causing it to fluxuate thus causing germination to occur. As such air coming from the King's Chamber shafts could not be permitted into the Grand Gallery (the main storage compartment for recovery goods) so the entrance to the KC would have to be blocked with the portcullis system. No such portcullis blocking system is required outside the Queen's Chamber since the shafts in this chamber did not allow air to pass through.
Once all the recovery vaults are filled with recovery items the rood of the Ante Chamber would be put in place and the pyramid built up to completion - a hermetically sealed Recovery Vault.
